Hotel Penelope

Wahnsinniger Ausblick vom Balkon, super Frühstück (frisches Obst und Gemüse, Wurst, Käse und verschiedene Kuchen). Costas ist sehr hilfsbereit und sehr freundlich. Der Pool ist echt groß, hat genügend Liegen und an der Bar ist Selbstbedienung, jeder schreibt auf was er konsumiert hat. Ein Problem mit dem Warmwasser wurde sofort behoben, einfach super. Uns hat es sehr gut gefallen, wer Ruhe sucht ist hier genau richtig. Wir kommen wieder!

I recently returned from a week’s holiday at the Penelope – not my first visit to this private family-run hotel, and it certainly won’t be my last./ The hotel has twin/double rooms and a few studio apartments (if you prefer self-catering). Balconies have tables and chairs with pool or garden views. All rooms are very clean and comfortable, with air conditioning, and the good-sized bathrooms contain glass shower cubicles. There are fridges, coffee/tea making facilities and safes in every room. All rooms have satellite TV and wi-fi is available throughout the hotel. The hotel’s pool is not large, but a good enough size for swimming, and there are plenty of sun loungers and an honesty pool bar. A very short walk away you will find small coves for private bathing. Many of the tavernas dotted along the coast (and again within walking distance) offer sunbeds and parasols for use by customers. Breakfast is buffet-style, with a great choice of hot and cold food. Kostas (the owner) prides himself on customer service, and will do his very best to accommodate dietary requirements. The family also own a local taverna (Boukari Beach) which is within walking distance, although transport can be arranged (there and back) if you wish, and at no charge. The food at the restaurant is very good, with a selection of traditional Greek dishes alongside fresh fish plates (I particularly enjoyed the prawn ravioli this year). On the subject of Kostas, I have stayed at the hotel for over 20 years and watched it grow. Kostas has spent time visiting other hotels in Europe and has incorporated many amenities that he found during his fact-finding visits, with the result that this small family hotel has many features only seen in larger hotels. Thank you Kostas for making my stay an enjoyable one, and see you again next year, if not before!

My Wife & I had a wonderful week at the hotel Penelope in mid April 2024, a 16 room family run hotel in Boukari right on the coast, a beautiful location. The owner Kostas is a big friendly guy with an even bigger personality & he can't do enough to help with any needs you have. We stayed B&B but also had evening meals on some nights & the food was very good. A perfect location for rest & relaxation.

Vinimos a este hotel, de rebote. Ya que como comento en una reseña anterior, veníamos de kavos, de una alojamiento repugnante y una zona pésima así que decidimos cancelar la y encontramos el hotel Penélope. No hay nada malo que decir de este alojamiento, todo a sido genial desde el primer momento. La habitación olía limpio solo al abrir la puerta, el baño muy completo, la ducha con puerta donde te podías dar un baño agradable,la habitación estupenda con una terraza muy bonita ,equipada con su mosquitera. El personal encantador nos han atendido genial. Y por terminar , la piscina muy bonita , poco concurrida donde incluso a veces daba pereza irse , porque se estaba muy a gusto. La zona donde está e hotel, diría que es de las más bonitas y tranquilas de la isla. Una maravilla !!

We stayed at the Penelope Hotel for 4 nights. Kostas and his family run the hotel as well as the Boukari Beach Taverna which is a leisurely 10 min walk along the coastal path - well worth a visit! The hotel itself is simple and good value. We had a studio room which included a fridge, cooking facilities and a bit more room than the standard rooms. The hotel has a pool which was great for a cooling dip after a day exploring the South of Corfu. There is also some great walking to be done directly from the hotel. We walked to Petriti & Notos Beach and enjoyed a lovely lunch one day. On another we followed a steep path all the way up to Chlomos which is a beautiful village with the most amazing views of the coast and beyond. Most all of it is Kostas and his staff that really make this hotel what it is. Nothing is ever too much for them. Kostas was a great source of information and guidance. He also has cars & bikes to rent and knows just about anything you need to know. Thank you Kostas for a really great few days.

My family and I stayed at Penelope for a week, and we had a nice time, but there were a few things that could be improved. The GOOD: - The rooms are spacious; - The beds are comfortable; - There is a free pickup from the airport if the stay is longer than 7 days; - During the day, if you want to stay at the hotel, you can order a small lunch (pizza, greek salad, toast, omelette) and it's quite good; - Very close to the sea, to one shop and to several restaurants; - The area is delightful, quiet and peaceful. - The swimming pool was never too busy; - You can rent a car and go on many activities/trips from there; - The air conditioning worked well. - There are free-to-use inflatables in the swimming pool. The BAD: - DON'T pay for HALF BOARD! Their restaurant is 20 minutes away, which is not a pleasant walk in the summer heat! There are plenty of better restaurants very close to the hotel (Kalami was the best, but they were all quite good). - The shower in the room leaked outside the cubicle; - The air conditioning leaked water on our balcony; - No-one every cleaned under the beds; - The swimming pool wasn't very clean one day. My skin got irritated and a guest got an earache; - There is a pool bar, but there is never anyone in it, so the guests were just serving themselves and writing what they had on a piece of paper. We made our own cocktails, but we still ended up paying them full price; - We paid full price for them driving us back to the airport, even though the hotel driver was going there anyway to pick up a guest that was arriving at the same time.
