Southern Backwaters Houseboats

Trip was excellent......Homely and very delicious food all the time........the behaviour of the trip manager Shaiju and the boat crew were very cordial and amicable...... We had a good experience of the ashtamudi backwaters..... Thanks..

When we arrived in Kollam near the boat we were kindly accompanied by Shyju who bought us some Chai, showed us the boat and introduced us to the crew; Remanan as captain, Joy as cook and Telesphar boat engineer. The crew was so nice and really took care of us. Remanan let us sit behind the wheel for a moment! And Joy prepared an amazing lunch, diner and breakfast for us, with typical kerala cuisine, yumm! We stayed on the boat for 1 night, and coverd Ashtamudi lake, Kallada river and Munroe Island. At Munroe island we left the boat for a tour through the smaller backwaters on a smaller boat. This was really beautiful, but make sure to bring anti mosquito repellant! ;) Around 5PM all recreational boats need to dock, because the fishermen go to work on the waters. Joy took us for a walk in the area where we saw a really beautiful church and visited an intimate hindu temple. In the evening we enjoyed some card games we brought ourselves on deck. The boat itself was really comfortable, with AC in bedroom during the night, which worked really well! There was also a mosquito net over the bed. On deck there is a large diner table to eat, 2 large comfortable lounge chairs and on the side there are soft cushions to lie down while enjoying the amazing view of the backwaters. There are also bluetooth speakers available on the boat, so you can play your own music. It was a really beautiful experience!

Excellent tour! The boat was nice the food was amazing & we got to take a small boat through the narrow backwaters. I highly recommend this cruise. The staff was so friendly & accommodating. They were very clear and prompt with communication & did I mention the food? So good! Would do it again.

It was a great experience enjoying southern boathouse ride. The ride was too smooth and amazing also the staffs are friendly and gentle. Lastly the food was too delicious and more sufficient The ride made us to hold a delightful memory. Worth to take an another ride!

20/08 was my son’s birthday. Mr Shyju S. V and staff of Southern Backwaters’ house boat made it a memorable one. Will always suggest this to my friends and relatives. The boat was sublime and the staff were awesome. Even-though the food was familiar to us, the taste was extraordinary. Thank you to the Southern Backwaters team for today from the bottom of my heart and on behalf of all my family and friends.

The boating day out was amazing experience. The experience with the crew members was excellent and Mr. Shyju tour executive from the first call booking we had good support. The food they served was very good Kerala taste and they maintained the boat with Clean and tidy.
