I visited from California and went here ***** with my family from Bangalore. We were there two nights. It was mom, dad, brother, his wife and two kids - 10 and 1 year old. We had to rule out Tamara since they do not allow infants. And we could not get availability at Taj. Hence the only luxury option was Evolve Back. That said, it was a nice experience. On the positives, they have a huge property that is great for walks/jogs. Very fresh air, no air pollution and very quiet, no sound pollution either. A good collection of plants for those that are into botany. The three restaurants are great. The breakfast and dinner buffet spreads were some of the best I have had in India. A special shoutout to the veggie restaurant for their dosa and chutney varieties. And they will custom make the dosas to order. They even have a christian church on site for those that are religiously inclined. A unique selling point of this property is the private heated pools in almost every cottage. I don't think you can get this in many places. There were some negatives. Mainly I don't think it is worth the price. We paid about $450 a night for the Lily Pool Villa and about $900 a night for the Lily Pool Bungalow. For comparison, one could stay at the Leela Palace in Bangalore for about $100 a night with royal service. I just did not think the price we paid matched with the level of service or fit and finish of the property. For instance at Taj/Leela the staff will be much more trained and polished in their service. Not to say that the people were not nice at Evolve Back, I just do not think they are paid as much as those folks. Which means the margins are going to be higher at least from a labor cost standpoint. And in terms of fit and finish, granted it is in the midst of a coffee estate amidst jungles, so there are going to be all sorts of insects and critters which is okay. But for comparison, I stayed at the Serai Kabini where they had a daily service just to address the mosquitos that might have arrived in the room that included sprays, fumigation and a mosquito curtain. Also the fit and finish was left wanting in terms of the upkeep of the room itself. Again don't get me wrong, the rooms were newish and clean but not to the level of the fragrance you will be greeted with in the rooms of a Leela, Taj or Serai. Again, seems to me like the margins are going to be strong given that the property is dual-use. They grow coffee and use it as a resort. And lastly, another small downside is that the gym just has a treadmill and nothing else. Could offer some weight equipment. Also they promised side by side units during booking but our units were a few minutes apart. No welcome email/call, we got a WhatsApp message about an hour before our arrival. In summary, do visit if you get a better deal than me. Otherwise, there are other options. I just expected a much more bespoke / royal experience after paying the international price of a St.Regis or Ritz Carlton.
