The rooms smelt like someone who had pets lived there and they peed on the carpets, it is such a nice property I would advise them replacing or cleaning the carpets and also replacing the mattresses they were a bit overused. The shower also needed some maintenance the door was stuck. It is such a spectacular place those things take away from it. Such a nice host

I stayed at Moncrieff Manor in Knysna from 1st of July 2025, and unfortunately, my experience did not meet expectations based on the listing and reviews. From the moment I arrived, there were noticeable issues. The cleanliness of the room was ok, The linens appeared freshly laundered — Despite being advertised as fully equipped, several amenities were either missing or non-functional, the bathroom shower door was broken and could not close properly. The room was very cold without any aircon, the room also had a wet animal/ old urine smell. There was power issues and the power kept tripping and I could not use my computer for quite a bit of time. I attempted to address some of these concerns with the management, I was given a plug in heater While I understand no accommodation is perfect, the lack of attention to detail made this a frustrating stay. I rarely leave negative reviews, but I hope this feedback encourages the property to make the necessary improvements. I would not recommend this location unless significant changes are made.

This is a beautiful place with a large, comfortable room. Super hosts, who really care about your comfort. The ONLY problem is that the room has a beautiful view over the water, but you have to choose between the view and privacy. Open the curtains if you choose the view (with the large glass doors and windows facing the parking area right next to the main entrance to the house) and other guests walking past watch you having early morning coffee in bed. Or close the curtains for privacy, and forget about the view. (There may be rooms upstairs where this is different, but all the downstairs rooms share this problem.) This was enough of an issue for me to ensure that I will not stay here again.

Set high above Knysna, Moncrief offers amazing views of the whole lagoon. Kevin, the host, adds to the experience by being wonderfully caring and helpful. The room was large and comfortable and there was lots of extra areas available for guests

Beautiful place to spend the night in Knysna - the view is magnificent and the rooms are comfortable and private. Breakfast with a view over the lagoon was an absolute treat. Hosts are warm and friendly and I will definately be back.

I enjoyed the setting,the beautiful clean room,the food and the owner’s hospitality! Safe parking and good security. Near the business aria as well as the lake. Beautiful view over “THE HEADS” Will me back!
