We had an amazing three-night stay at Safari Lodge. The staff were so friendly, welcoming and helpful. As there are only 11 lodges, they get to know your name and preferences. Being vegan, we were very well catered for and enjoyed lots of great food (and wine!). Unato looked after us at breakfast, lunch and dinner, entertaining us with his singing and dancing! The game drives start early in the morning, and it can be cold, but you are provided with warm fleece ponchos to wear (although extra layers and a hat are a good idea!). Both the guides (President and Desmond) are very knowledgeable and good fun - they really look after you. We saw lions, rhinos, cheetahs, elephants, giraffes, zebras, many different types of antelopes, and so much more. The day at Addo Elephant Park was a real treat - we saw so many elephants, including a 3-month-old baby with its mum. The accommodation is super clean, comfortable and quirky, with an outdoor shower, individual plunge pool and private terrace, where you can watch the wildlife pass by (we saw warthogs, giraffes, antelopes, baboons and vervet monkeys from our terrace). The bed was really comfortable, and it was great to wake up to birdsong early every morning. The mini bar was well stocked and there was gin, sherry and some oat snacks to enjoy. We cannot rate this place highly enough and hope to return sometime in the future, to spot the elusive leopards! Thank you to everyone at Safari Lodge for making this such a memorable experience.

This is the most wonderful place to stay and enjoy safari. We were looked after beautifully, the lodge was stunning with a cold plunge pool and electric blankets were put on each night! The food was fabulous. Nadhi our safari ranger was excellent and taught us so much - each drive we saw new animals and all very close up- an unforgettable stunning experience. Would highly recommend this resort- it was our first safari and we were blown away.

My wife and I stayed with our teenagers, which meant separate lodges, although next door to each other. The lodges are utterly charming- stone built at the rear , thatched roof, canvas to the front which can be unzipped to open up onto the watering hole. Separate sitting area inside with good views out, underfloor heating, mini kitchen with stocked mini bar, fridge, kettle. Lovely bath with views and double, private, outdoor showers. You don’t really come here for haute cuisine but it is nonetheless very good and plentiful and reasonable wine. First breakfast at 645 second full breakfast at 10 after the morning game drive, 2 course lunch, 3 course dinner etc! Good menu choices. Staff are attentive engaged and very welcoming. As our first safari, it was outstanding. A special mention to Desmond our ranger for the stay. He was knowledgeable relaxed informative and got us into some incredible positions, right up close to the animals. Particular highlights were watching a cheetah kill of a wildebeest, parking among a family of elephants on the move with their baby calf, up close with a male lion, amazing warthogs and a visit to the watering hole right in front of our lodge by a family of giraffe. Desmond even laid on a meteor shower to top it all off. I can’t rate this highly enough/ absolutely outstanding in every respect. Really well done, thank you.

The experience was amazing from start to finish. We were welcomed with open arms by the staff and even the local animals, which made us feel very special. The lodge felt very private, the staff’s friendliness was a constant source of comfort, the game drives were spectacular and very enjoyable, and the food was consistently excellent with generous portions.

I stayed at Amakhala Safari Lodge while I was volunteering on Amakhala Game Reserve. Everything was fantastic. We had great, friendly service, always with a big beaming smile from all the staff. Unati in particular was so friendly and helpful, always smiling and laughing. The food was great - we had a fruit platter and selection of cakes, with a welcome drink on arrival, a 3-course dinner in the evening and a great hot and continental breakfast too. The lodge is beautiful, totally immersed in nature. There is a friendly nyala who often eats from the trees and bushes around lodges, as well as giraffes that often visit the valley in front of the lodges and restaurant. The rooms are beautiful and very well equipped with large, deep bath tubs, a private verandah with plunge pool (not heated, so didn't use as it was freezing cold). Overall a great stay! Really loved my time there.

Really well organised safari experience. Arrived on Sunday afternoon and had out first experience , followed by 2 more on Monday and another on Tuesday morning. Jessie was our guide. Great fellow. Cheerful and positive. We say cheetahs, giraffes, zebra on day 1 followed by close ups of lions and rhinos on day 2. The tents were impressive, Spectacular views. Food good. Company great. Loved the experience.

Die Safari Lodge ist sehr sehr sauber, authentisch und sorgt mit hervorragend Personal für ein unvergleichliches Erlebnis für die ganze Familie. Besonders hervorheben ist dabei Bulelani, welcher mit seiner fröhlichen und zuvorkommenden Art unseren Aufenthalt bereichert hat.
