Highland Getaway

After our short (10 miles) hike from Kingshouse, we were not expecting to be tired, but the cumulative effects of the total miles as well as the ever present rain throughout the day, found us a bit weary as we straggled into the Highland Getaway. However, Michelle (at the bar), handled our check in with ease even while she was crazy busy with a full house of lunch diners & drinkers. Balancing their requests with our soggy needs for our rooms, she managed to do all of that with a smile on her face. She passed the torch of getting us to our rooms to the equally lovely Kate who took us to the nearby (connected) building where our actual rooms were. Kate then showed us to the spot where our luggage would soon be dropped off (our hike today was so short that we arrived before the luggage did), and told us that we were to place our bags in the same spot in the morning upon departure. Our rooms were traditional, not luxurious, but spotless and perfect for our one night stay before our final hiking day. Both Michelle and Kate were polite, professional, and so very friendly. A great welcome to Kinlochleven!

Food was really disappointing. The two other pubs in the village have lovely food, we thought the getaway would be the best because it looks the best and cosiest and for drinking maybe because it was nice atmosphere when we just had a drink there but for food it’s extremely over priced and 100% microwaved.

The staff are the most welcoming, friendly and helpful people who went over and above to help us out in so many ways. Truly lovely people. We had arrived at our other booked hotel along the road to find out it was too awful to stay in. The ladies here provided us with lovely accommodation that had not been planned to be let. They took time to help us out and provide us with an immaculate, comfortable and peaceful room. We are very grateful and saved our night in kinlochleven. Our evening meal was very enjoyable with lovely views and breakfast was perfect. Thank you. I highly recommend staying here.

Very welcoming pub.barman was a great guy friendly and certainly made you feel chilled. Carry on and dry your socks n boots, and charge your phone ( was doing the W.H.W. ) No food on Sunday, but I did see celtic beat killie .sorry I didn't. Catch your name big man but thanks again.

After a few days of walking the West Highland Way the Highland Getaway was an oasis of warmth and welcome. Michelle was the perfect host. Our room overlooked the river with fabulous views of the mountains. The food in the Gallery Restaurant was superb with excellent service. Definitely recommend!

Stopped over before heading on to Fort William during the West Highland Way. Hotel staff were very welcoming and quickly got us settled in, even reserved us a table for the evening meal as spaces were going fast. Hotel food was typical pub type comfort food and tasty. Breakfast was great and one not to be missed. Twin room was spacious enough but a bit dated in decor. Staff at this hotel could not be better.
