If you are going to do the Gorilla Trekking, look no further, just stay here. We only had two nights' stay here but it was absolutely amazing. The property itself is breathtaking. We can sit in the outdoor sitting area, sipping tea/ coffee and enjoy the gorgeous Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. The lodge is merely less than 5 minutes away from the Forest HQ. The service by Julius, Tom, and Esther was fantastic and the food served was fabulous. Also check out their Riverwalk.

Engagi Lodge Look no further if you are planning to trek to see the gorillas, this is the place to stay. We stayed in 5 different lodges whilst on Safari and this had the most attentive toned staff of all the lodges. Each cabin had a nice private deck with comfortable seating, The rooms were a great size with well placed mosquito nets that were easy to enter/exit for those nighttime bathroom breaks. Bathroom large and modern with loads of hot water for showering. Each cabin and a staff assigned to it to attend to ANY needs you may have. Micah even cleaned our boots for us after the hike and they looked better than when first out of the box at store! The staff in the main lodge who service dinner and attended to our needs were exceptionally well trained, polite and interesting people to meet. The food was absolutely delicious, service was fast and all dietary needs could be met with ease. Online pictures do not portray how beautiful this lodge is. the main lodge room has good internet, nice chimneys with coals on the deck so you can sit and enjoy the damp weather that comes with the rain forest. The Gorilla Trek centre is just a few minutes by car from here and the hiking sites are close. Bucket list experience had by all! We also visited Ride 4 a Woman when there. Go see this awesome local NGO’s work to support local women to live safely and earn a living when you are in the area. Worthwhile stop minutes from the lodge. Please be sure to tip the staff in the main tip box so it is shared with all of the staff in front and back of house. Your tour company can help you with what is an appropriate tip. We were booked into this lodge as part of our Safari package with Gorilla O’Clock. We would definitely recommend this lodge and this safari company.

My friend and I had an amazing stay at this lodge. Since there are only 8 cottages, you get very individualized personal attention. I loved the setting in the beautiful mountainous forest. They have a gorgeous stream with a short hike along it. It was very peaceful. The food was delicious- especially the tilapia and fruit. They will bring your tea and coats a biscuit to wake you up if you like. The lodge area had a beautiful fireplace and chimnea, along with couches to enjoy the view. The lodge sitting area and dining area is all open so you can enjoy the view. I wish I could remember the delightful young lady that helped carry our bags, brought our coffee and tea, offered to clean our boots after our gorilla trek, and offered to do any laundry (at a small fee). I wish I would have had more than 2 nights so I could have had a massage. They packed great lunches for us for our gorilla trek. We enjoyed sitting on our little front porch to drink our coffee and soak up the view and sounds of nature. The room was just the right size with a nice large bathroom. I highly recommend this lodge.

One of the best lodges we stayed at during our 3 weeks in Tanzania and Uganda. Amazing service, fantastic food, and beautiful location. We especially loved the river walk. The area by the fireplace was so lovely in the evening and a great place to catch up on emails. We appreciated the morning coffee service brought to the rooms and incredibly friendly and welcoming staff. We stayed 2 nights and wish we had more time at this lovely lodge. A gem.

Julius and his team went to great lengths to keep us comfortable and happy. Good food, hot water bottles, log fires and yummy porridge. Yes it’s a bit damp everywhere but you’re in a rain forest! Spectacular setting and the boot clean service is beyond amazing!

I recently stayed at the Engagi Lodge for an excursion to see the gorillas in Bwindi Forest. Our room smelled, the bedding was stained, the curtains moldy and the room cold. There is no glass covering the screened bathroom window which makes it chilly at night. The staff seemed disinterested and indifferent in their jobs and overall unhappy. The food was ordinary and lousy. We couldn't wait to leave and would not recommend this lodge knowing there are better options out there. Simply a rip off. I wish I had taken photos but was so unimpressed, I chose not to.
