Buhoma Gorilla Camp

The staff are super accommodating and lovely, all the food served, dinner, breakfast and the packed lunches are yum as. Room and bed were spacious and comfy. Highly recommend to anyone doing gorilla trekking at Buhoma.

I write this review with extremely fond memories of our two-night stay. The lodge is comfortable and relaxing, and the staff goes out of its way to look after your every need - even before you arrive. Joshua and team were extremely considerate and welcoming, and really knew how to make you feel at home. I was particularly grateful for how Joshua realised that I was nursing a sore back, and took extra care to find me just the right cushions to support it without me even having to ask. The food was consistently hot, delicious, and (very!) generous, and they even cooked us - on request - a traditional Ugandan meal on our first night. (Beef stew, rice and beans - a real treat.) An avocado starter in particular really sticks in my mind - easily the best of its kind I've ever eaten. To top it all off, the owner, Richard, is very friendly and approachable. We got chatting and learned that he was a park ranger for many years prior to setting up the lodge, and so he was able to give us some superbly accurate information about the various sectors in the park and some good tips for the treks. A thank you to all for your kindness and attention.

We enjoyed our stay at Buhoma Gorilla Camp. The service was excellent, the food was delicious and varied, our room was well equipped, lovely and clean, the employees were courteous, competent and super friendly. We felt at home and hope, we will come back.

FRENCH REVIEW BELOW Lodge in the village of Buhoma, near Bwindi Park. Impeccable welcome, spacious and very clean cottage. Delicious four-course meals and numerous thoughtful touches throughout our stay. They even offered to clean our hiking boots after the mountain trek: they came back looking like new! All the staff members are friendly, competent, and dedicated to providing a great experience. The best service we had during our stay in Uganda. The only downside: although it feels like you're in the jungle, the lodge is very close to the village, so noise/music from the main street can go on quite late. Earplugs are recommended. Lodge dans le village de Buhoma, à proximité du parc de Bwindi. Accueil impeccable, cottage vaste et tres propre. Repas 4 services délicieux et une foule de petites attentions tout au long de notre séjour. Ils nous ont même offert de nettoyer nos bottes de marche au retour du trek en montagne: elles sont revenus comme des neuves! Tous les membres de l’équipe sont sympathiques, compétents et dévoués à nous faire faire vivre une belle expérience. Le meilleur service de nous ayons eu pendant notre séjour en Ouganda. Seul petit bémol: même si on a l’impression d’être dans la jungle, le lodge est très très près du village, donc le bruit/la musique de la rue principale peuvent se poursuivre assez tard. Bouchons d’oreille recommandés.

Buhoma gorilla camp is a family owned and operated lodge located just outside Bwindi impenetrable forest. Just off the main road this camp consists of private cottages nestled in a forest setting where you can hear wild birds and streams as you walk to and from their restaurant. The food we enjoyed at the camp was delicious and the staff always made sure that we were well fed and all of our needs were met. To go further into the staff we dealt primarily with Joshua (general concierge) and Teddy (housekeeper and free laundry) and were blown away with the kindness and care these two provided us. An emergency came up with our tour guide and the lodge owner (Richard) came to the rescue and took us to the gorilla trek and communicated with our company the whole day to make sure we did not miss anything on our itinerary. They genuinely made us feel like family and we would recommend this stay to anyone visiting the gorillas of Bwindi. Ask for the cultural walk around town with a guide named Salvan, you will not regret the experience of getting to know the locals and how they live on a day to day basis.
