Comfort Suites Kings Bay Naval Base Area

If you are disabled or a veteran, please avoid this hotel. I live in Sarasota, Florida and left on Monday to evacuate my handicapped, 82 year-old father. My husband made the reservation on Sunday and followed up to confirm Monday morning. After an 8 hour stressful drive, I went in to check in at the hotel. The young lady at the reception desk mentioned a pet fee because we had 2 small dogs. I explained that whoever my husband spoke to said due the circumstances they would waive the fee. Then she explained my husband would have to fill out a form to allow me, his wife, to have the reservation without him because there were 3 people on it and she proceeded to email the form to him. I texted my husband to let him know we were having an issue with the reservation. This prompted him to call the hotel and speak to the manager. The young lady at the reception desk walked to the back room and returned 30 seconds later and said, “Your reservation is being canceled.” I was stunned. The very unprofessional manager came up behind her and said, “Your husband yelled at me on the phone. Your reservation is canceled and you are banned from staying at this hotel.” I was now shocked. I said my husband is not one to yell. I have driven 8 hours to evacuate from a hurricane with my disabled father. Please let me have the room. She responded with, “Well, people have been yelling at me and my staff all day and you are going to have to deal with the consequences of your husband’s actions!” I left understandably upset. I never raised my voice or was disrespectful to her even though her behavior was reprehensible. My husband did ask her to allow me and my father to get into the room and he would do what he needed to do with the form ASAP. I’m sure his voice was firm and full of concern. First, this hotel denied access to my 82 year-old, handicapped father, who is also a Navy Veteran. The manager excused this by saying on the phone that the reservation was not under my father’s name. Apparently she needs training in the Americans with Disabilities Act. Second, the manager was more than aware we were evacuating from the Sarasota, FL area due to a major hurricane. On another note, since the hotel was sold out, I believe it would be safe to say whoever took our reservation paid two or possibly three times more than the $85 we were charged. Yes, the manager still charged for the reservation. I will be contacting the state of George regarding all the aforementioned. To the manager: I have copied this review as I suspect it will be deleted as soon as you can make it happen.

Where do I even begin?? First, this hotel doesn't even deserve 1 star. After traveling/driving 13 hours, we needed to stop for the night. I reserved 2 rooms. I checked in, and the woman charged my card and handed me the keys. Apparently, it is up to the guest to ask the important questions. So, I had to ask about the breakfast, pool, etc. She explained that the pool was closed due to the owner using the wrong paint, (he used latex and it peeled into the pool water causing a health hazard) so he had to correct it. However, that was over 2 1/2 months ago, and he is still sitting around not doing it. This came straight from her mouth! So, no pool. Not a big deal. When we get to our rooms, one of them had a door knob that was so loose it wouldn't turn properly. Again, we could deal with it. However, when we walked inside and right in the walkway was a portable dehumidifier, I knew something wasn't right. The air conditioning was not cooling the room, and the dehumidifiers both had a red light saying full and wouldn't turn on. The temperature never got below 75 in the room, and this is in the hottest part of summer! One of the rooms I heard a crunch when I walked near the bed, only to find crumbled dry mud from someone's shoes all over. Probably from work boots, as there were construction vehicles in the parking lot. The shades on the lamps had water stains, and there were water stains all over the ceiling. Cigarette burns on comforter. The bathroom was absolutely disgusting. There wasn't any fixture that wasn't covered in rust. There were short curly hairs in the sink and bathtub. Toilet had urine running down the front and on the sides where the screws were. Make sure you have your tetanus shot if you stay here! Breakfast- if you can even call it that. There were about 6-8 moldy apples in dirty bowls. There was a waffle maker, but waffle mix was empty. Poured some cereal into a bowl and it was stale. WE decided to go to Dunkin down the street, as this breakfast was inedible and after seeing how the hotel is run, not sure I would risk eating food there.

It's alright.... You do get what you pay for! The unexpected dynamic was when I was in the room, and they had a dehumidifier in there due to the high humidity present in the hotel.... I eventually had to cut it off during the night because it would keep turning on automatically about every few minutes. Secondly: They need to replace the door anchors and some of the railings, as they had noticeable rust on them, which made me think twice about putting a towel or wash cloth on them. Thirdly: When using the desk, there was some kind of film on it, so I literally covered the desk top with a towel in order to work on it. It may have been something as harmless as wood cleaner, but that will need to be wiped clean before anyone actually uses a room. Carpet will need to be replaced (as well as many hotels of this caliber), as well as the sofa, as they showed their years of wear and tear. Aside from those issues, the service was top notch, and the breakfast was good! The guy at the front desk was very professional and courteous. The picture of the room itself was after I used it, and was about to leave, so that is not a reflection of the housekeeping at all, as they had it arranged neatly when I came in. Honestly, going forward, unless it is absolutely necessary, I'll have no need to come back again until these issues are resolved.

We are fortunate enough to travel a fair amount and this Comfort Inn is one of the nicest we have ever stayed at. Most Comfort Inns are clean and comfortable, but this one takes great pride in giving the people who stay there the best possible experience. The rooms were very nice. The wifi was fast. The breakfast was good. We just felt that the management and employees take great pride in helping you in any way possible. The rates were also reasonable.

The front desk clerk was very good, had all the information someone may need. The room was fine, was able to get it real dark with the blinds. Very nice overall stay except when I went down for breakfast. The breakfast area is very very limited. All the tables were taken and there were people already waiting. There was a crowd around the food, so I couldn't even grab a quick bite to go in my way out. I ended up having breakfast someplace else on the road. Very disappointed about that. Very small and tight parking lot, so don't have a trailer!

Very very nice! Clean, comfortable and good value for the money. Breakfast was delicious. Loved the biscuits and gravy. Just off I95 with plenty of restaurants around if you are interested. I would stay here again!

This Comfort Inn Suites was the best I have ever seen. It was extremely clean, comfortable, and they provided amenities that other Comfort Inn's don't. We were greeted with a welcome bag that had water, a cookie, and salty snack. Chocolates were at our bedside. There were games to play in the lobby area. The breakfast had everything we needed. I will certainly book here again when traveling in Georgia.

The room was clean ,quiet ,lovely views from the windows. Cute little pool, lovely staff. Bed was comfortable, linens are good. Pillows great. Would recommend for others to stop here while travelling lots of breakfast options

Loved this place!!! Ignore old poor reviews by others, this hotel has rose above them! Upon arriving, we were warmly greeted in a lovely entryway area. Our front desk lady was perfect. The hotel is comfy, clean, and nice. Beds were fantastic!! Bathroom was clean. Only grabbed a fast breakfast, which was good enough. I found this hotel on a cruise page. We stayed with 2 other families here because of that fb post. 30min from port. I didn't make time to enjoy the small pool, but it looked nice& my teens enjoyed it. Ty for nice service, personal touches galore, and a nice place to sleep. Would stay here again!
