Outer Banks Inn

I’ve got a new room on the 3rd floor. It was a nice and clean room , but not enough space to get a food and drinks . It is in one hand, but in other hand the location is pretty close to restaurants and to the beach, so I’m pretty satisfied in general. Hotel personnel are very friendly.

Family (mom, dad & 4 kids 11, 10, 8,6) trip to the OBX, couldn't have found a better deal. The hotel was clean, updated, and conveniently located by restaurants, activities, and the beach, all really short walks. The weather was perfect, the only complaint was the sun burns.

The staff were very nice and welcoming.I read one review that complained of a musty smell and that was noticeable in the room I stayed in (102) but it was tolerable. The room was nicely set up. I liked the mini fridge and the microwave and the newer flat screen tv was nice. I brought my laptop and my own hdmi cable and watched movies from my pc. The hotel is a very short walk to the beach, we had no issue with that. I liked that they have the free breakfast bar in the mornings. The girls at the front desk were very helpful and informative about the area and the hotel itself. I would stay here again. The only problems we had were that we stayed for a week and the last two days the housekeeping staff didn't provide us with clean towels In the room. And we then extended our stay one more day and the lady at the front desk informed the housekeeper to get us new clean towels and toiletry items. We then left the hotel to go eat so she could go into our room. We came back and found a bag that was ripped sitting outside our door. It had towels and shampoo In it that the housekeeper had placed outside the door. I felt that was kind of rude.

We stayed at the Outer Banks Inn July 20-27 2013. We enjoyed our stay, and the hotel was clean which is my most important requirement. We always had enough towels, our beds were made daily. The room was definitely older, but it looked like it had been redone recently. There were some water stains on our ceiling, but no leaks. Breakfast was fine, but very crowded; this was due more to other guests not controlling their children and letting them go back for food, block the toaster, make a mess, etc. The beach shuttle is awesome. You just ask the front desk, someone will drive you to the beach. When you're ready to leave, you call the hotel. One day they even brought us cold bottles of water to the beach when they picked us up. That being said, the beach access is a quick and easy walk from the hotel. They also have towels available for the pool. I have to give a shout out to Katie at the front desk who recommended some cool places. We visited a great bar called Lucky 32 that we would have overlooked if not for her. She also recommended we try swimming on the sound which was a nice change from the ocean. My only major complaint is the location of our room. It was convenient to be beside the outside entrance, but people coming in and out was a little bit loud. No one was trying to be loud, but the closing outer door shook our door every time. I guess we could have requested to switch rooms, but we didn't think it was worth the trouble of moving all our stuff. If we stay again for a week, we will probably request a different room. The location was great! We walked to the beach, walked to go eat breakfast, walked to get ice cream, and more.

Budget accommodations on the Outer Banks are hard to come by. I ended up here on a weekend, Friday night through Sunday night. Friday and Saturday night rate was about $90, including tax. That is quite a bit more than I like to pay for one person. Sunday night was a much more reasonable $64. The room is very nice. The double bed, there are two, was extremely comfortable. The mattress was nice and firm, just the way I like it. In addition to the two beds, there is a round table with two upholstered chairs, an open closet with four additional storage cubicles. Two of the cubicles are used for a small refrigerator and microwave. A good size TV is sitting on top of a long low dresser type piece of furniture with two large deep drawers. Furniture is all in excellent condition. There is also a small coffee maker next to the TV and a large night table between the beds. Room is well lit with a double lamp above the night table, a wall lamp above the low dersser and a recessed ceiling lamp. A telephone and an alarm clock are located on the night table. Room is heated and cooled with a through the wall unit. There are three attractive pictures on the walls. There is also a wall mirror over the previosly mentioned low dresser. Bathroom is very large and well kept. Sturdy grab bars in the tub/shower combo are very helpul. I wish more places had them. Plenty of hot water, decent pressure from the shower head. The head is a bit low for me but, as a tall person, this is nothing new to me. Towels are of good quality. Personal size toiletries are provided. Walls in both the room and bath are nicely painted with no chipping or peeling. Room carpet could use a good cleaning. But it is the end of the season and I am sure they probably do it yearly once things quiet down. The desk staff with whom I dealt were all very pleasant. Continental breakfast fare is provided. All in all, a decent place to stay.

This is a great little Inn. It seems to still have renovations. It was clean. The doors were a concern for me. Didn’t feel secure but I didn’t see it as a problem. The water was turned off by the city and I wasn’t able to have a shower. This would have been something to inform the guests with prior to arrival or at least the morning of.
