This was our 5th time staying at the Gardens. After our first visit years ago, in following visits we researched other accommodations looking for something better but always returned because anywhere else looked like a step backwards. Trust that the other rave reviews you read are not embellishment! Five years had passed since our last stay and we hoped it would be unchanged. We asked for our favorite room which was Garden #9. 2nd floor tucked away at back along Simonton St with partial view of pool area. We were not disappointed. If staying in an ultra-modern contemporary hotel is a high preference, you probably won't like the Gardens. Nothing like that can offer the charm, emotional experience, and personal touch of the historic Gardens Hotel in its lush setting. Any burdens or stress you arrive with vanish immediately as you set foot into the property. Walking the pathways through jungle-like atmosphere with various attractions is calming and almost surreal. The hammock in the back is so inviting. Many times during the week, we did not encounter any other guests when walking the paths or using the pool. Possibly in part due to being off season, though in past this has not been uncommon. For the budget minded (we are), if you are thinking it’s too much money, do not be deceived between cost and value, you will be rewarded with an unforgettable experience. Granted there is a lot to do in KW but if you never left this hotel during your stay, you could be content. Bedding comfort is a 10 out of 10. The rooms are clean, well appointed with plantation style furniture and Key West décor that create a very welcoming feeling when you walk in. Makes you just want to stay in room sometimes despite the beckoning call from beyond. The breakfast is far superior to cookie-cutter hotel buffet breakfasts. George waited on us all but one day and was friendly, accommodating, and efficient. The cook is also on their A-game. Every dish was perfectly prepared with like presentation. Eat inside or outside. The resident kitty may keep you company but is never a pest. There is an exquisite large cabana restroom behind the pool bar with full facilities including shower. This is really nice as it is available if you arrive before check-in time, as well as after you check out. For example, on checkout day, if you have a late day flight and need a place to freshen up during afternoon. They have various sunscreen products available on edge of bar you can use and return at end of day. Small thing but much appreciated as we pack light and with carry-on size restrictions we don't bother bringing sunscreen. Speaking of the bar by the pool, it’s an inviting place where guests can mingle and have a drink, or few, before going out for the evening, or while using the pool. All staff was friendly and helpful. Nancy is a true treasure of the Gardens. What a wonderful person! We could have talked for hours! The Gardens Hotel isn't just a hotel, it's an experience. Picture meandering paths, with tropical flora and fauna all around you. Ponds with fish, birds, and even several turtles. Sparkling pools, with plenty of shade, and a pool bar to enjoy a cocktail. A special thank you to our bartender, Phil, who took such good care of all of us. We really looked forward to our breakfast every morning outside by the pool. Thank you to the entire staff, for being so friendly and welcoming. The service at this property is top notch, along with the accommodations. Our cottage was absolutely perfect.

Beautiful grounds and accomodations, feels like old Key West...upscale yet comfortable and artistic. Nancy, Ray and Phil made us feel welcomed and went above and beyond to make us feel at home again... Two former KW residents, returning for a visit. Thank you!

My wife has stayed at multiple places in Key West, but of them all, this place is head and shoulders the BEST! Location is as central as you’ll find just a half block off Duval and yet somehow, you can’t hear anything of Duval once you enter the grounds. Beautiful. Classy. Romantic. Sophisticated-yet-relaxed. Room (Carriage House) was the nicest I’ve ever stayed in. The ambiance of cocktail jazz infuses the air. Staff are very friendly. Breakfast is excellent. Wine selection and “arcade-style” tasting mechanism is brilliant. The grounds are lush yet organized and immaculate: a true mature, garden menagerie. Fellow-guests are all friendly—there is a feel like everyone is part of the cast/atmosphere playing out. There is no place I’d ever stay in Key West. Can’t wait to come back.

Well what can I say??? This hotel is picture perfect superb!! wonderfully friendly staff, amazing room (we stayed in number 14), cleaned to perfection every day, the bed was one of the most comfortable I have ever slept in, every facility we needed was there. What we loved most was the outdoor porch and the two comfortable chairs where would sit outside with Lucy the hotel's cat (she almost came home in the suitcase with us as we fell in love with her) the gardens are a fairtytale, the pool area fantastic, the wine gallery is a really nice touch, the bikes and the towel bags we could take every day. I actually cannot say enough about this place. We were so sad to leave on Monday after a wonderful stay with you. Thank you so much to Nancy, Philip, Ray and the numerous other staff who made our stay so memorable. Definitely one of the best places we have ever had the pleasure of staying at. Thank you so much

The Gardens Inn was amazing. From the grounds, to the rooms and the staff. Beautiful and romantic. My husband and I felt right at home. I can’t say enough good things. George, the assistant managerwas a great help and so informative!! And Phil at the bar was so delightful serving drinks and stories. Honestly, a wonderful place to stay. I know we will be back here!

This hotel is outstanding. Whether you are looking for a property to simply relax in or jump out into the madness of Duval The Gardens Hotel will not disappoint. Our room was sumptuous (Courtyard 16) with a cosy veranda that we enjoyed daily for coffee in the morning and a late afternoon cocktail. The pool was refreshing and right next to the bar where the staff catered to our thirst. The gardens are simply amazing with lots of pockets to disappear into. This will be the only place we will stay going forward.

The Garden House Hotel 526 Angela St., Key West, FL 33040 5 Stars This is the first entry into Big Boy's review of boutique and Michelin-rated hotels. I start my worldwide journey in Key West. Upon entering The Garden House Hotel, the first thing one notices is that it is a first-class operation. This once-private residence is in the historic Old Town district of Key West. As such, it is footsteps away from Duval St., Mallory Square, and the Historic Seaport. Equipped with full and delightful concierge services, they are happy to help you plan any and all activities while visiting the area. Just a side note, their service is included in your stay, so no need to fear if you are not a member of the plutocracy, you can still enjoy their services and have a wonderful time. All the guests hang out by the pool and bar, mingling in a friendly, open atmosphere. This is truly a delight. They have won many awards and I can see why. From Rhoda and Ray at the front desk to Lucas at the bar, the staff is outstanding in every way. Tucked away on Angela St., this deceivingly large estate is sprawling with its own botanical gardens, including local flora, fauna, and some turtles. The pool is sparkling clean and an inviting blue. The room? The room is large, gorgeous, welcoming, well-maintained, and surprisingly quiet. The Big Boy says, "For the first hotel review, this is top-notch and the bar has been set extremely high.
