We flew for Gatwick with Easyjet and the flight was 2hr and 50 mins we had pre booked a private transfer with Easyjet and got us to the apartments in 10 mins after leaving the airport and the pickup for the return was on time. One point here with hindsight is that if you are thinking of hiring a car is to book it and collect it from the airport as it is much cheaper than in the resort i.e. for 3 days with full insurance was 120 Euro with Lemon Cars for a Kia Picanto. We arrived at the Metaxatos apartments and was met by Christina who showed us to our 2 bedroom apartment which was above the pool area with nice views across the sea to Lixouri. The apartment was bright, Free safe and Aircon worked well. I found the shower in the bathroom to be a bit Bijou and cramped and I’m only 13 stone. Although the towels and bed linen were changed every 3 days and bins emptied daily Beds were never made up just the bottom sheet fitted and the top sheet and blanket placed on top, maybe this is common place in Kefalonia. There is a nice relaxed bar and pool area , no loud music reasonable sunbeds and comfy chairs overlooking the sea. Katie at the bar is the real star of the apartments serving nice snacks and cocktails although I was disappointed that they did not have any Mamos or Alfa beers in the 500 ml size, all bottled beer was 330 ml sizes. Because it was the first week of October things were obviously winding down, no entertainment provided apart from the TV but it wasn’t really an issue. Sitting on the balcony in the evening there are lovely sunsets but while we were there there was someone in the valley with a grinding machine sharpening tools? that went on for a couple of hours around the time the sun was setting , even the Sto Psito restaurant seemed to turn their music up to block out the sound for the diners. What was an issue for us was the location of the apartments which are right at the end of the strip going out of Lassi to Argostoli. To get to Argostoli you can either walk up some steep steps and paths within the apartment complex or the longer route back to the Dolphin Supermarket then back up the hill to go down to Argostoli, or if you are really fit take the long route which is 5km turning right as you leave the hotel. My wife found the steep paths and walkways difficult as she is asthmatic. To get back to the hotel in the evening when its dark you will need a torch (phone?) as the 100yds from the dolphin supermarket is badly lit and you are walking in the road with no footpath. From the apartments to Makris Gialos beach around a 1 mile walk then steep steps down to the beach, 20-25 mins. The beach is lovely but unless you have deep pockets avoid Costa Costa who in the summer were charging 60 euro for the front 2 rows. We turned right and went straight to the other end where 2 beds and parasol were 20 euro. If you are going down to Gradika Beach on the road down from the Dolphin Supermarket which is about 400yds and quite steep, then go
