Unfortunately, I regretted booking this property. It was difficult to find a suitable hotel in Karaganda. I had originally booked Senator Hotel, and I should have kept that reservation instead. I was extremely disappointment with a check-in mishap that involved the front desk. I booked (2) suites, since I was hosting guests. My guests were to arrive a bit later, and staff was aware that I wanted my guests to be able to pick up their room key when they arrived. However, there was a problem when I tried to use my AMEX card for the room payment and deposit. Their card reader was unable to process my card, and the staff could not figure out why. I communicated to the staff that I had cash to pay for the rooms if necessary, but that I had a high preference for using my credit card. The staff advised me not to worry, said they would check with their administrator on the matter, and they sent me to my room. Unbeknown to me, when my guests arrived a short while later, the front desk staff demanded that my guests pay for both rooms. The staff explained to my guests that my credit card was not viable, and therefore my guests would need to make the payment before they would be allowed to check in. The only person who can speak decent English is Ali, Administrator. My guests had to go to the bank and get a loan to pay for the (2) suites. They did not inform me until the next day, and I was mortified. As far as the hotel itself, it was okay but not great. The lobby was spacious and nice... but our suite was very basic, and did not feel clean enough for my standards. Breakfast was not the greatest, but there are some American options. I recommend staying somewhere else in Karaganda. Private apartment rentals are nicer have a much lower price point.
