We were a party of 10 and took the two villas Gunbatimi and Ruya and they were completely fabulous. They are right next door to each other, so the three families and kids could all be in each others spaces all the time - it was a magical way to spend a family holiday, without disturbing guests in the hotel, but with all the luxuries of being in a hotel The properties were beautiful maintained, facing the sea with stunning views from every aspect. The bedrooms and bathrooms were modern, very comfortable and stylish. The fridge was stocked on arrival with fruit, vegetables and snacks. The villas had lovely terraces, comfortable outdoor sofas and tables to eat off - all facing the sea and sunset - magic! Kalkan is built into the rocks that go directly into the sea, so you are always walking up or down hills / steps / terraces - which is utterly charming - and you are always looking at the sea - but in the heat you should be prepared to have appropriate footwear - at the hotel and in town. We went to town on the hotel boat, run by such a lovely man, who was so patient and smiley, when we delayed him as children hadn’t arrived on time for departure!! The beach club at the Mahal is complete perfection. My favourite beach club I have ever been too. Again, due to the landscape the club is on small narrow terraces, so everyone had little clusters of 2/4/6 sun beds and then steps down to the sea, with a shower. We ate every lunchtime at the Mahal Beach club - the food was delicious, selection was wide, fish and style of food modern and yet simple and wonderful Dinner at the Mahal beach club was beyond special- we ate there twice and they were my most favourite dinners of the holiday The staff at the beach club were so gorgeous, friendly, helpful, professional - the chef was a very special man, and patient with requests - the other staff bringing cocktails and coffees in minutes and bent over backwards to accommodate “moving a sunbed / umbrella/ getting more towels” getting buggies up and down to the villas The sea is so clean and turtles swam about when we were there - the hotel has a boat, but it couldn’t take our numbers, so we went on another wonderful boat locally hired, there was water sports and everything you could want to do I couldn’t recommend this property more - especially I would like to shout out the staff - who made us feel part of the Mahal family, not just served and spoiled but really loved! That is special !!
