Asfiya Sea View Hotel

We have been to this hotel each year fro the last 3 years. This year (2024) standards have plummeted! The hotel is being run by a skeleton staff. The receptionist only communicates using Google Translate, and can't answer even the simplest of queries. Housekeeping had to be asked on a daily basis, to make up the room, then to provide soaps, etc. and again to restock tea and coffee sachets. Rubbish (including half-eaten food) was left for 48 hours in the hallways and many of the garden plants have been left to die (including what were impressive roof gardens). On the plus side, this hotel is in a fantastic location, but that's about it.

Firstly the positives, the pool bar staff, breakfast staff and cleaning staff all excellent..no complaints. Pool area was great and as there was hardly anyone in the hotel there was ample sunbeds and the pool was very nearly unused so whole pool to ourselves. We came to this hotel in 2019 and thoroughly enjoyed our stay then and returned here this year based on our previous visit. Sadly this proved to have been a mistake. On arrival our room wasn't ready and still had staff preparing the outside patio area. Once in room the safe didn't work and the patio door wouldn't lock. Called reception and a member of staff arrived and was unable to fix either problem which meant we couldn't leave our room to go out for a meal. Eventually a man with a drill turned up and fixed the patio door (now from a 3 lock door to a single lock ..but it locked I guess !! and then replaced all the batteries in the safe and hey presto that worked as well. At breakfast following morning was surprised at the lack of choice on offer...hot dishes on offer were mushrooms and baked beans plus the usual cold meats and fruit. Omelettes were on offer but that was it. Got talking to another couple who when they arrived the hotel informed them they hadn't got their booking and so were offered a different room to the one they booked. The hotel was imo, needing a touch of tlc with a lick of paint and broken sunbeds/parasols needing repaired. Unfortunately the reception staff couldn't speak a word of English so when there was a Turkish domestic happening at 4.00am outside on a balcony and I phoned to complain of the racket that was going on (1 hour and counting) no one could understand my complaint. Similarly when I queried the drinks bill at the end of the holiday the poor lad on reception hadn't a clue what I was on about which led to a heated debate !!. If you do go to this hotel and buy drinks/meals in the hotel be careful and keep track of what you order as they don't ask for a signature on purchasing so its up to you to know what you bought. There are no evening meals on offer these days either which is a shame as the food in 2019 was really lovely. In summary the hotel in 2019 was probably worthy of its 4 Star rating but this year definitely not...2-3 star at best. Doubt we'll return to this hotel in its current condition sadly.

Resepsiyon görevlisi kibar bir insandı. Odaya girdiğimizde bir müddet sonra farkettiğimiz şey televizyon önündeki konsolun üzerindeki toz benzeri pislik ve ıslanıp kurumasından dolayı buruşuk bırakılmış 3 rulo tuvalet kağıdı ve tuvalet deliği içindeki dışkı kalıntısı ve tuvaletin kenarlarındaki diğer kirlerdi. Şikayetimiz üzerine kapımıza gelen görevliler temizlemeyi teklif ettiler, kabul etmedik, odayı değiştirilmesini talep ettik, öncesinde başka bir boş odanın olmadığını söyleyen hanım efendi sonrasında bizi 501 numaralı odaya yönlendirdiler. 501 numaralı odada da temel bir sorun var mı diye kontrol ettik temizlikle ilgili. Konsolun üstünde bardak izleri vardı yine ama banyo tuvalet yatak ve yerler temizdi ve ses çıkarmadık.

Came back from this hotel very relaxed. The room was huge with a lovely pool. Shaded area outside under cover and a second area with loungers and umbrella looking out to sea. With tall trees on either side providing some shade it was lovely. The breakfast buffet was one of the best with various honey, nuts, fruits and simple egg dishes on request. Staff were lovely and very kind to those guests who were less mobile. There are quite a few steps down to the pool. Over all we were really satisfied. Our only grumble was the fact that the hotel allowed non residents both from nearby villas and properties miles away to use the pool loungers when there are plenty of beach clubs to go to. But all in all we loved the place.

Our biggest complaint is that the hotel is very poor value for money. We were paying four star prices for three star accommodation. The whole place is in need of repair and maintenance. The sunbeds were literally falling to pieces, the mattresses on the sun beds had holes in them, most of the sun umbrellas were tatty. Whilst we were there a step on the ladder into the pool came away. We raised several complaints about the lack of hot water. For the first week we were there we could not have a hot shower when we wanted. After complaining to reception several times we even tried sending an email to the manager but still got no response. We were told that the manager had tried to contact us but obviously not very hard, as we were in the hotel most of the day in question. One evening there was no hot water in the whole hotel. Again there was no response by way of an explanation or apology from the management. The swimming pool was very disappointing, one pool wall was covered in coarse pebble dash which you had to be aware of at all times, it was also not very deep for swimming in. We are definitely at a loss to understand the good reviews other guests give this hotel in view of the amount of refurbishment required to bring it up to a reasonable standard and to justify the rates charged. The hotel has great potential being in an ideal location, with wonderful views, spacious rooms and lovely staff.

This was our first visit to Asfiya Sea View hotel and we were not disappointed. The hotel has the most amazing views across the bay and is perfectly located for walking down to the harbour and into town; there is a shady walk way with steps a short distance from the hotel, which takes approximately 10 minutes. The rooms were spacious and bright, with ample hanging space and drawers. The shower was separate from the toilet and wash basin, which was convenient when two people are getting ready to go out in the evenings. The ground floor rooms had direct access to the pool, the first and second floor rooms had a larger balcony with seating and a coffee table; all rooms had a sea or pool view. Breakfast was good, there was plenty of fresh fruit, nuts, yoghurt, cheeses, cooked meat and bread, you could also order a freshly cooked omelette which my husband did most mornings. We had lunch at the hotel a couple of times, which was beautifully presented and of a very high standard. The staff work hard keeping the hotel and its grounds clean and tidy, but most of all they are extremely friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed going back to the hotel bar each night thanks to Selcuk, the bar and restaurant manager, he really was the life and soul of the hotel (and yes, he does look like a young George Clooney)! Sadly Selcuk had to leave suddenly before the end of our stay for personal reasons; it just wasn't the same without him there. Kalkan is a fabulous place with cobbled streets, rooftop restuarants and cocktail bars galore, all of a very high standard. We hope to go back in 2024.
