A step back in time in this lovely, period, heritage property. I love these types of hotels in India...a little bit worn at the edges but made up for in style and atmosphere. The edwardian style is delivered through period style furnishing and staff service. The large lounge/bar area is very comfortable, and the service friendly and attentive. The veranda area offers lovely views and a calming area for a coffee/tea. The dining room is very grand, reminiscent of a bygone era. Lots of silver and wood...crockery stamped with the Elgin brand - all very nice. The food was fine but not the best. The hotel was quiet and I think perhaps we suffered a little for this. One of our dishes on the .first night had undercooked chicken. The second night was 'tasting menu' style...lots of dishes served at table. Mostly very tasty! Just served too quickly. Relax a little. Breakfasts were ok too. Just more fruit options needed. The bedroom we had, had a great view. It was a deluxe, and whilst not huge it was big and very comfortable for us. The bathroom was clean and functional, as it should be. Towels could perhaps have been better. Robes were provided. Good. Toiletries were good quality. The bed was a little hard but that is standard here I think. Whilst no aircon, it wasn't needed on our visit. The staff were lovely. Lots of friendly smiles. Helpful and efficient. Overall, worth a visit.
