The perfect balance of professional and personal service made our stay exceptional. The staff remembered our preferences from day one, and the little surprises (like complimentary afternoon tea) added such charm. The beds were cloud-like, and the bathroom amenities were top-notch. The lobby's ambient music and scent cre

There's something special about a place that makes you feel both energized and relaxed. The staff struck that perfect balance between being attentive and giving space when needed. The rooms were thoughtfully designed with both aesthetics and functionality in mind. The breakfast options were diverse and fresh, and the evening ambiance was simply magical.

Holy guacamole, what a place! I've stayed in a fair few spots in my time, but this one takes the cake. The staff are like your best mates, but ones that really have their act together. The whole shebang is like a well-oiled machine of awesomeness. I'm already figuring out when I can come back!

Crikey, I wasn't expecting this! This place is like a little slice of paradise. The people here are absolute gems, always ready with a smile and a helping hand. Everything's neat as a pin and works a treat. I'm tellin' ya, it's the duck's nuts. Don't think twice, just book it!

Located on an island off an island, Fogo island is a place of rugged natural beauty. We recommend using their shuttle or private car service the first time instead of trying to get to the Inn from Gander airport yourself. The Inn itself has a unique and modern and striking design that pays homage to island architecture and tradition both inside and out. Only 29 rooms and all rooms have an ocean view. Inside includes an art gallery, a library specializing in Newfoundland, a fitness room, sauna, 2 outdoor hot tubs, and a 37 seat cinema. The Inn strives to be sustainable. It’s owned by a charity that puts profits back into the community and province. It employs about 300. It tries to use local inputs and craftsmen from food to furniture. It does other things not well known like micro loans to local entrepreneurs and civic improvements. Guest services are highly personalized. There are posted events such as guided hikes, boat tours, cultural experiences, yoga, biking, wildlife viewing, fishing, and museums and shops. Note that guests are not restricted to just what is posted. You can ask for specific things or suggestions and they will try to arrange it. You will get the full experience if you are open and also proactively ask. They will also provide a car if you want one to look around. They will do your laundry if needed. Fine dining is the standard focusing on local seasonal ingredients. You can get any meal to your room. You can also ask for snacks or packed meals anytime (eg for a hike) or for a late night snack. They also provide a daybreak service which is coffee or tea and a daily scone or muffin to your door silently at 5:30am. You can also eat at other restaurants on the island free as they send the bill to Fogo Inn (check which ones). Unique is the exposure to local community and culture with things like architecture walks, jam making, pottery and art shops. Guests also get a local guide to give them an island overview. What’s interesting? Fogo Island Inn is just one off two places given the Michelin 3 key award. What else? Too much to write. Do research on your own too To note: A 3 night minimum. Only guests are allowed inside. Cost. Yes it’s expensive. All costs except alcohol are included and maybe some excursions such as a boat ride. Overall: A very different immersive experience that is very different but highly recommended.

We are no strangers to off-the-beaten-path destinations, and Fogo Island Inn has been on our to-do list for quite some time. For this trip, we combined it with a visit to Prince Edward Island (Mrs. KI-NRT is a huge fan of "Anne of Green Gables," and chartered a flight directly from Charlottetown to Fogo Island Aerodrome for convenience's sake, and in order to fit everything into a one-week trip. We couldn't be happier with the combination, and it was nice to save the best property for last. First of all, the price - it's eye-wateringly expensive, especially the room we booked, the 103m² Flat Earth Suite, which was the top category room on site. On the one hand, Fogo Island Inn is really the only luxury option on the island. That said, compared to similar properties we've visited around the world, it's easily double (or more) the nightly rate. Yes, it's a full board arrangement, and they have a no-tipping policy, but even then, value for the money is not in Fogo Island Inn's vocabulary. Also, if we were ever to recommend this to friends, we would only recommend the Flat Earth Suite - looking at photos of the other room categories, I couldn't imagine passing the time - at a place like this - in accommodations whose standard rooms are not much roomier than a base room at a Hilton or Marriott. The Flat Earth Suite is a corner unit on the top floor, and is a loft-style room with the bedroom on the second floor. The view is stunning from the room - the windows are two-stories high, and the wrap-around view lets in a ton of natural light. There is a washlet toilet on both floors, dual sinks in the bath/shower room (the bath and shower are separate), and the bathroom and shower have heated floors. Additional conveniences include a master light switch on both floors, comfy slippers and comforters that are warm, fluffy and light. The one negative has to do with the curtains - they are manually operated and the ropes are heavy... it caused my hands to become somewhat raw, so for subsequent curtain adjustments I used a towel to keep my hands from directly making contact with the ropes. Guests staying at Fogo Island Inn have free use of bicycles and e-bikes which can be used to explore the surrounding area. However, to go further afield on your own you really need a vehicle. Thankfully Flat Earth Suite guests are entitled to a Tesla Model 3 to get around, which we used to get to the Lion's Den Trailhead, among several other locations. Given the frequently inclement weather on Fogo Island, the property conveniently offers rental boots, hiking poles, jackets (including outer shells), parkas, hats and other just-in-case items. They are high quality, too - Mrs. KI-NRT helped herself to a very nice Patagonia outer shell on two of the days when it was extremely windy. Many of the reviews mention the amazing dining experience, but we felt it was mixed bag. Many of the dishes were unique, creative and focused on local ingredients, which is what we look for when v

It’s not often that a guest meets the owner of a hotel or a resort. We met Zita Cobb on the ferry ride from gander to fogo Island. She was very friendly and not the least bit intimidating. Part of the package for a guest is being picked up from the airport in Gander, driven to the ferry, accompanied on the ferry and then driven to the resort. This happens both coming and going. Our driver was a full-time resident of Fogo Island who grew up there. He was full of information about fogo island life and the inn. On arrival, we were warmly greeted. Our bags were whisked off to our room. we stayed in room #23 on the fourth floor. This room had a king bed with a floor to ceiling window looking out on the north Atlantic Ocean. there are some impressive touches. The walls and ceiling have boards similar to the salt box houses that dot the island. Custom wallpaper is on one wall. The linens on the bed, the bathrobes, the towels are handwoven in Finland. We had a hand sewn quilt on our bed. there was only a single sink, but the bathroom was otherwise luxurious with a very interesting shower that included some quotes from a 1756 poem on the walls and floor. The Inn is very environmentally conscious. There are lots of activities. We spent almost an entire day being driven around Fogo Island by a local resident who took us to a dozen interesting spots and told us all sorts of information about the sites and the people. One day the inn let us take a car so that we could go wherever we wished. We used that time to go on a hike at Oliver‘s Cove where we met several locals picking berries, all of whom wanted to chat with us. There is a movie theater on the second floor that shows a film about the building of the inn and the charitable organization that owns it. The Inn has an intimate connection with the community. furniture at the inn is mostly made on the island at a shop owned by the inn. we took a brief tour of that shop and had another tour that showed us the various parts of the inn. The food was mostly remarkably good. We had about 10 meals during our stay, only one of which I found disappointing. The other nine were outstanding multiple course meals with invariably delicious desserts. During our stay, we learned that the Fogo Island Inn had just been awarded three keys by Michelin. There is only one other resort in all of Canada with this standing. It’s a one of a kind place.

I've traveled extensively, but I've never encountered a place quite like this. It has a unique character that sets it apart from the cookie-cutter experiences you often find elsewhere. The attention to detail is remarkable, from the thoughtful design touches to the carefully curated amenities. But what really makes it special i
