We had such a lovely, relaxing experience at Fort Ross Lodge. Incredible views, easy access to Sonoma State Park and its numerous hiking trails along the stunning Pacific coast. Loved the quiet, the privacy, the hot tub (especially after long hikes), the toasty wood fires we made in the early, cool mornings (with wood delivered to our door every day!) Could not have asked for more. Bed is super comfortable and room had all the amenities needed. Hoping to return some day!

Very peaceful, quiet spot. As mentioned by others there is a good small grocery store across the street. And apparently they have music there on weekends. Otherwise not much else to do without driving. Staff was nice and it's pet-friendly.

Decent stay but in need of some serious upgrades. Hot tub was cold so we couldn’t use it until the 2nd night. Hot tub was also falling apart (see photo). Bathroom tub/shower was black. It was very odd and with the dark color definitely needs more lighting. The ocean views were amazing though and the kitchenette and bbq were very handy when there is a very limited food options out there. Grounds were very pretty. Overall I would stay again. With some upgrades this property could be amazing.

We have been going to this place for more than 30 years, and it's better than ever. We stayed in a King room with a splendid ocean view, wood stove, and hot tub on the patio. The room was equipped with a microwave, frig, and dishes, so we enjoyed making BBQ dinner using with the free charcoal. The manager Josh and staff Michael were both very friendly and helpful. We drove a short distance up the road to Salt Point State Park, where we walked on an easy trail along the coast and saw a lot of gray whales heading north. It rained the whole time, but we still had a very good time.

The bed was comfortable. The room was well equipped with silverware, dishes, microwave, fridge, keurig. It was quiet. There was free parking. We had a nice patio. The communal hot tub, sauna, fitness room was nice. What I didn't like was although we could see and hear the ocean from our room, there is no access to the ocean from this property. Also there is no where to walk unless you go to the Fort Ross state park. There is a well stocked store across the street. You either have to bring your own food or drive to a restaurant elsewhere. Not bad but I was disappointed that you can't get to the ocean.

We were among the few parties that missed the power outage warning and still went in the lodge on a birthday road trip. The Staff did everything they could to make sure we would be OK before the power was back on. It warmed our hearts. Luckily power was back that evening! Although the rain was still on-and-off, we enjoyed the nice, clean room, the quiet setting and the beautiful ocean and sunset scenes. We liked that nice manager and store staff, they helped to make our two days staying very enjoyable. Simon, EDH, CA

This was a secluded little place to stay. It was not as enjoyable as I had planned. There were no resturants open for dinner for miles and miles, after we drove 3 hours to get there. We had chips and a coke for dinner. We didn't sleep much, because the bed was terrible.

Wi-fi spotty in Unit 7 which detracts from the whole experience. Yes- Direct TV, yes-delightful setting but why no wi-fi for $250+ a night? I know it’s probably covered in other comments but wi-fi today is as basic as hot water...we need it and we need enough of it...and I’m 84 and no techy. Maybe I should just smell the roses. The rooms have everything you could think of...how about a grill utensil set for the BBQ? Yes. One nights charcoal for the grill, one nights wood for fireplace and starter, cork-screw and wide bladed cheese knife? Of course. Plates/glasses/knives/forks/even a roll of paper towels...beach towels, black washcloth and a treated make-up remover package. Keurig coffee maker, micro-wave, fridge. My head is spinning.

While driving down the coast we came upon this incredible gem. Highly highly highly recommend this to anyone coming to this area. You can see the ocean we were fortunate to be able to see whales. The owners are so incredibly accommodating anything that you may need. Inside the room nice little touches of a little cheese board and wine opener and wine glasses which you could then go across the street and purchase items to enjoy from The grocery store that the owners of the hotel also owned. Supporting local never felt so good because they have just an amazing place to offer. Inside the rooms you have a little mini fridge microwave plates bowls spoons forks and a grill outside should you decide to cook some thing. That was very comfortable - bathroom was very nice and the decor very charming. I’d actually give this place a 10 if I could.
