Fox Jaffna

This is one of the best options to stay in Jaffna. It’s not in the city centre, more on the outskirts of the city , there’s nothing around, so you basically plan your time in the resort. The hotel itself is nice , the rooms look a bit old but clean , there was no hot water in our room. The territory of the hotel is beautiful with the pool , restaurant, little museums to visit (ex bunkers). The food in the restaurant is yummy , the staff is friendly and polite, especially Scotty , he was very helpful and nice to us during our stay. Good experience at this hotel, just the water situation in the rooms should be improved.

We had some problems with the booking date. We arrived too early and therefore they had no room left at this date. It was not easy to find a room in another hotel at this date. But they did not give up asking around and they organised us a room in another hotel and also the transfer to the hotel. They arranged that the day after we could stay in a beautiful room back in the Fox. Everything was perfect. The food was excellent and the dinner was served in the romantic garden. After the hustle and bustle of the city, you immerse yourself in an oasis. You wouldn't expect such a great big well-kept garden in this hectic city. The pool was nicely warm and inviting for swimming. We were there at the weekend and we saw prefotoshootings for several marriages. For us as foreigners this was very interesting and entertaining. The whole team, including the chef in the kitchen, the serving staff, the manager, the people at the reception, was very kind and helpful. They were always present, attentive and hospitable. We can highly recommend this excellently run hotel and we would like to thank you once again, especially Mr. Shane.

What a wonderful oasis, the team here is exceptional. From the minute we came in to the minute we left it was sensational. Special mention of the pool, pristine and perfect temperature. Food was an excellent representation of Jaffna cuisine and Chef Pushpe and his team are fantastic, the variety and quality perfect. My suggestion is to eat the local food, but omelettes and pastries are available. Highlight was the Kottu corner which is excellent. Service!! Wow the waiters are so helpful speak excellent English. Scotty our waiter for most of the time told me he learnt how to speak English from you tube and speaking to himself in the mirror AK or Kumar was also brilliant. This team is led by a dedicated management team who work with the team and drive the vision of the company. Must see is the bunker, war time bunker turned into an art gallery, the theme of the hotel is Sri Lanka’s famous artists and each block is named in honour of one of them. Rooms are clean modern and fresh and each has a balcony, there are also 4 rooms in the original house. You will have to go there to learn about the history. House was built in 1908 and house a Maharaja.
