While the location of this hotel might be nice, just a few steps away from the harbour with plenty of bars and restaurants nearby, the service really lets it down. Checking in took an age with constant tapping away on the PC and only one member of staff, so if there’s a queue be expected to wait a while. The room itself was fine, just as you’d expect from the chain, with everywhere clean. It’s one where they’ve replaced the bedside electric sockets with old USB-A ports, so most charging has to be done on the desk overnight. If you’re in a rear facing room it’s pretty quiet at night, but the road in front is busy and noisy in the mornings. The real let down was in the bar / restaurant. The service was terrible - no glasses offered with the small individual bottles of Prosecco, and then when asking being offered a pint glass! No wine was available because no one knew the code for the store room, pints were served as mostly foam, you had to point at bottles you were asking for in the fridge etc. It was as if everyone working there hadn’t seen a bar before, never mind worked in one. Also there was no breakfast served as the kitchen had been “condemned”… If you’re just looking for a bed for the night it’d be alright, but for any other level of service you might be better considering somewhere else in the town.
