Huntsville Marriott at the Space & Rocket Center

Good room

The only option for breakfast was a $20 buffet. Not able just to get muffins or fruit. Change $18 to park in an open parking lot that was half full. Room was stark. Seemed to missing a couch. Bed was a very low platform bed. Bathroom was comfortable.

Very nice considering we were upgraded and had access to the M club. The breakfast buffet is very nice and great service. Pity one of the two washing machines was not working as that made life a bit hard. Great when yiu have students at space camp as so close. Shame no more courtesy bus to the main part of Huntsville.

Overall decent stay. Very lovely front desk staff who are helpful, welcoming, cheerful, and professional. The hotel hallways have a bit of an odor, there is a little wear & tear as expected in places, but the location steps from the Space and Rocket Center can’t be beat at a great price!

The hotel has a nice check in. Upon arrival we proceed to the room. The lobby and elevator was nice and clean. We had room 341 it had a clean bathroom. The room was clean. We then went to lobby bar. They were overpriced, They got me for $11.00 for a pint of Modello on tap. No more I went to the store and got a 12 pack for $15.00. Went and sat by the pool and enjoyed my overpriced beer. The pool area is very nice. The hotel had a convention of bikers that was quite entertaining lol. They were very nice. Went to my room and slept good.

We were in town for my mother-in-law’s funeral and opted to stay at the Marriott. I travel frequently for my job and expected this location to meet the usual standards. Unfortunately it did not and I was thankful we were only there one night. Check-in was interesting as the frazzled staff seemed insufficiently trained to handle the computer system or provide a warm welcome to guests (not just us but the other encounters I witnessed). Granted it was hot outside, but our room was stuffy and humid. The A/C in this aging facility was barely putting out any cool air and it was positioned where the vents would not adequately ventilate the room. I called the front desk and was told someone would come up to see what could be done, but no one came. My husband and I had poor sleep because we were so uncomfortable. The next morning, the front desk was unattended when we went down to checkout. I dropped our keys in the designated place but really wanted to just give some feedback to them so I waited around long enough to know that staff were non-existent or elsewhere. I feel our negative experience reflects on management as it is their job to run a properly functioning hotel. I can’t blame the inexperienced staff. On a positive note, the room was clean and there were plenty of towels in the bathroom.

In general, Hotels available at the government per diem rate are not very good in Huntsville. This hotel looks nice and has one of the better hotel Gyms I have come across. Bed is comfy, room is in good shape. Key negative is the AC would not cool the room below ~74 deg. F no matter what I set the controller at. It ran almost non-stop and wouldn't get cool enough for me to sleep well. The outside temp was in the 70s overnight and himid, shouldn't be hard to cool the room. Also, they used to have a conceierge room that gave a super fast and convenient breakfast option. That closed and now breakfast is through the restraunt, even if you are comped the breakfast it will take some more transactional steps to scarf a quick bite and get out the door.

This hotel will fulfill your needs but is obviously lipstick on a pig… The lobby smells terrible - moldy/mildew. Rooms are fine. We chose this hotel for its view of the rockets- which was cool. It was nice to be able to walk my daughter to space camp drop off. If I were to do it again- I would book at Drury as it also has many rooms that overlook the rockets (Drury looks better in person than its photos). Alternately - the Westin is next to a lovely shopping area with restaurants which was where we went the evening before space camp checkin.

I stayed at this hotel for a conference for work and could not have been more please. Everything was newly renovated, nice, and clean. The beds were extremely comfy and I felt safe the entire time. The hotel grounds were very well kept and the staff was so professional and kind!
