Millstone Country Inn

Friendly Millstone Couple of days walking in the area, Millstone in a good location.

Two night stay on a groupon deal. Had a great stay. Inn is very welcoming with cosy fires and comfy chairs. Breakfast was included and was delicious and filling. Full English plus cereals, yoghurts, juices, hot beverage. Menu was good too with generous portions and plenty of choice. All of our selections were lovely. Room wasn't perfect but was perfectly adequate with great views of the countryside. The manageress and other staff were all very welcoming and accomodating. Large free carpark. Walks from the Inn are in some of the best areas of the peaks for walking. Also a short drive to Castleton to walk in the dark peaks. Would highly recommend and definitely go again. On the Fri eve we had an unexpected local band on. The place was packed and it made for a fab night.

Very friendly just what we needed

We went to take advantage of the Christmas offer. Two mains and a bottle of wine for £25. As a Hathersage Resident of over 50 years I have been to the Millstone countless times and in fairness whoever has been in charge has always made us welcome. Most times the food was pretty good without being outstanding but occasionally we have been disappointed. So we weren't expecting much to have changed as we went in through the front entrance. Wow were we wrong. The décor was the best it has ever been. Obviously a great deal of money has been spent on refurbishment. The interior now has been completely redesigned and is warm spacious and very welcoming. A lady who I assumed to be the owner went out of her way to make sure we had the best possible experience. The staff could not have been more helpful. If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes I wouldn't have believed how much has been changed for the better. And I haven't even mentioned the food yet. I had the Sunday Roast Pork which was superb. Much care had been taken to produce everything on the plate to a really high standard. The veg was amazing and the roasties delicious. There were 7 of us altogether and everybody agreed the quality and value for money gave us the best possible start to the Christmas season. Wiil we be going back? You bet we will and it was so good I hope as many as possible who read this review are tempted to pay a visit themselves. You wont be disappointed.

Stayed here in our motorhome in the car park, we had dinner and breakfast in the pub. It was absolutely lovely. Food was really nice, good size portions. The breakfast was really good value and quality produce was used. The staff are really attentive and friendly. Would definitely recommend.
