Hampton Inn & Suites Birmingham-Hoover-Galleria

When we arrived and went to the room, the air conditioning was malfunctioning and was putting out hot air in August and would not shut off, so we had to change rooms. We were downgraded to a smaller room and were denied any credit for the inconvenience and price difference in rooms.

We called to make sure there was a pool and if it was heated. When we arrived they said to use the pool Attached is the pictures taken over three day time. Dirty hotel too! Everyday we were told the pool would be fixed. It was so dirty and green. Couldn’t see the bottom of the pool.

We've stayed here 4 times in the last 6 months. We travel with pets and the pet area needs work. I took a star off for the luggage carts. They are half size of anywhere else we've stayed and they do not have 2 ends to keep luggage from falling off in the inclined parking lot. Almost every stay, I've dumped my belongings off the cart rolling it through the inclines of the parking lot. I've resorted to bringing bungee cords to try to fight this issue. We continue to stay because it is clean, comfortable, in an area that we have many food options, and on our route.

When I booked our rooms I booked 1 with 2 beds and another with 1 King. Called 2 times before arriving to see if I could get 2/2. They said they were booked. We flew in Thursday late. 8PM and our room w/2 beds was given away. 5’6” can not handle pull out bed.

Whatever Has Happened to Hampton Inn? I’m giving this hotel 1 star because the people who work there are very nice. But the hotel itself is old and in serious need of updating: 1. We had the LOUDEST A/C! It was impossible to watch tv when the air kicked on unless you turn the volume up to 45 or 50. Then when the air cut off the tv was blaring. The noisy A/C woke us up several times during the night. 2. The tv was very small for the size of the room and it was very far from the bed. 3. The bathrooms are from 1990 and the tubs have old, worn-looking shower curtains that look like they’re that old. 4. Weekday breakfast was skimpy and offered only old-looking apples/oranges as healthy options. If you look forward to a restful hotel stay when you travel, you should pass on this one.

My husband and I drove 9 hours to Birmingham, Alabama for a family medical emergency. The first night we stayed directly across from Woodward Baptist Hospital at the Marriott Courtyard. The offered a hospital rate $233.00 We liked it very, much. No available rooms the next night. We contacted several hotels for availability, nothing was available. We finally found the Hampton Inn Hoover Galleria hotel, the price was over $200.00 for this night. Upon entering our room at the Hampton Inn Hoover Galleria we saw the curtain. Half the Roman shade was higher than the other. There was a metal bar hanging out of the curtain leaning on the wall next to it. Impossible to close. The Hampton Inn staff knew the curtain was broken. They didn’t care or they would have fixed it. The room had been cleaned and prepped for guests. They were aware. We were too tired to deal with a broken curtain. We were at the hospital until 10:00 pm then drove to the Hampton Inn Hoover Galleria. I called the front desk before checking out to let them know. They said they would send up maintenance . Maintenance arrived but couldn’t fix the Roman shade. I complained to Hilton. Hilton called the front desk, who again suggest maintenance. At the very, least a Hilton property could have apologized for the trouble. Our room was over $200.00. We expected curtains to close. Bottom line. See photos. Stay someplace else.

Initially I was not going to write a review, but I owe it to future travelers so they are aware of the poor service and lack of professionalism this location provides guests. Note: We stayed here during a baseball tournament and parents I would strongly advise not staying here if you are in the area for tournament play. I used the app to book, pay, and check in for this stay on 7/12/2023. At that time I entered the credit card details and when I checked in on 7/13 I was told the entire amount of the stay would be charged at that time. When I checked in via the app, the digital key never activated. On the morning of 7/14/2023 I received a copy of my bill under the door with a note from the manager stating to stop by the front desk. I stopped by the desk later that day and I was told there were not any notes on the file and everything looked fine according to the reservation details. The next day, this is now our third night here, my minor son attempted to go to the room, the key did not work. The front desk told him that a new credit card was needed. I went in and the front desk clerk indicated they had been running a different card payment, not the one I booked and paid for the stay with. I even showed the clerk the email confirmation as well as the app confirmation, both of which showed the last four digits of my card. The clerk even took pictures of my confirmations and shared them via text to the manager, Rakesh Patel. The clerk asked for the card used to book the reservation and I explained that card was not in my possession and that is why the reservation was made via the app because y husband used his card (he was not traveling with us). I also explained that when I checked in on 7/13 the clerk said all charges would go to the card used when the stay was booked. For over 2 HOURS, I was made to stand in the lobby, along with my son, while the manger texted and called the front desk clerk alerting her to not allow me or my child into our room where our belongings were. My son was not allowed to use the bathroom in the room, he was not able to shower after playing baseball games all day in extreme heat, he was not allowed to access the room to change his clothing, and all the while this was done in front of a lobby full of guests. This was beyond belittling and frustrating. The front desk clerk then said Rakesh wanted a credit card authorization form completed. This was emailed, completed, signed and returned; however Rakesh stopped responding to the clerks texts. After the front desk clerk called his cell phone several times and texted him he finally responded 20 minutes later and said the form had not been signed. I then showed and sent the from desk clerk the picture of the form that showed my husband's signature. Once again, Rakesh ignored calls and text messages. We contributed to wait another 30 minutes in the lobby for him to respond. The front desk clerk apologized profusely and explained that Rakesh told her to not allow us i

Unclean, found roach in room on top floor. Guest laundry not working and this was a must have as a traveling baseball family. Had to use Embassy Suites down the road. While there, I was kicking myself for not staying there instead. Overpriced for what is delivered.

Room was clean but not what exactly what I expected for a Hilton brand of hotels. Breakfast was decent. Missing the jacuzzi that is advertised which is why I chose this hotel. Beds were also average in comfort.
