I had an awful time. There was a puddle of random juice all over my chair. The beer was flatter than any beer I've ever had. If I had a choice I would rather eat out of their bin than from there rat infested kitchen. The place should be irradicated from our local area. I thought to go back again in hopes that I had misjudged the place, but this time was also a travesty. There was a fight between two patrons that ended up smashing a plate. The waiter tried to break it up, in doing so he was hit in the face. So he made the genius executive decision to join in the brawl. This place shouldn’t be called The Horse and Groom, it should be called the Horse of Doom.

We went with friends that were visiting us. We were met by Trudy who showed us to our table in the restaurant. We all shared starters of Squid, Tempura Prawns and Crispy mushrooms. These were all delicious. For mains two of us chose the medium cod and chips and the other two had the suet pudding. All food was excellent and well presented. Trudy checked on us to make sure all was OK and if we needed extra drinks etc and was welcoming and friendly. There were plenty of fresh cooked vegetables with the suet puddings and delicious home cooked chips with the fish and good tartar sauce. We were too full for desserts! We will definitely be back very soon. Thank you Trudy.

We had a wonderful Sunday roast, a really good choice of meats and the veg was plentiful and fresh. This is a very well run pub with excellent friendly staff. Highly recommend this little gem and it is so reasonably priced.

Admittedly we arrived for a late lunch (2pm) but on entering we waited for a while to be served and eventually we asked whether they had a table for 4. 'No we dont do food now and anyway we are fully booked' was the answer. Bit offhand to 4 hungry travellers in town for a surprise birthday party after a long journey :( Fortunately we then went on to Aurora Cafe where we had a warm welcome & food

Tried twice to eat in here and despite there being plenty of tables they could not accommodate our party of 6… clearly bookings only and suggest they cannot cater for many at a time. Bay itself was fine but garden/courtyard uninspiring concrete

We took friends from America out and want to show a good old pub with classic food. We book to make sure and we’re not disappointed. Not rushed, good selection and keen staff. Portions were large and the price reasonable. Would gladly return again.
