"I stayed there without meals included. I arrived at night. The surrounding area is a villa area with no streetlights and it was pitch black. There were no signs or directions, so I relied on my car's navigation system to finally get there. The building was spacious and clean, and the room was also spacious, allowing for a relaxing stay. The large public bath was also spacious and clean. The staff were foreigners, but they guided me politely. The only downside was that, although it was fine in my room, there was a sweet perfume or aromatherapy scent throughout the entire building, which I found unpleasant. It might be acceptable in a massage room, but I think it's better for accommodation to be odorless."

"Mother of groom and family booked by my son, phoned to check he could pay wedding night when we collected cars, was agreed. My other son was asked for our passports then made to pay on the spot,! Most guests pay morning they leave. Obviously prejudicial to English people. Sounds like ripping us off as 3 hours earlier my son The groom had said he was paying. They were going to charge £700 with 2 payments. This hotel is disgusting and costing £350 for night was appalling. Dirt and dust everywhere, paper peeling and bathroom faeces on the wall, broken and cracked tiles everywhere. We weren't using onsen due to allergies. The floor only has beds to be made up on arrival and a table. This has spoilt my sons wedding preparations as he was very annoyed and had to drive over to sort it out so missed his planned events. We would not recommend this. Food there is no personal choice, they don't ask if anyone has allergies and you have what they dish up. As a foreigner no instructions how to eat the food as we had to cook some. We won't have breakfast as had enough so loss of 5 meals paid also and completely ruined the wedding evening for us and the groom feels awkward we endured this. Nobody wants a bath due to the unclean state. We feel they just saw us as foreigners and disrespected us. This place needs a full renovation and clean. Look elsewhere as I'm sure cleaner and more value elsewhere. Not value for money at this onsen"

"The bath is good. The building is old but clean. There is a toilet in the room. Day trips are only available in the morning. Room meals are simple and light in taste. The only inn in Masutomi Onsen that accepts online reservations. Wi-Fi is only available in the lobby. Newspapers are available. Online reservations fill up quickly. Staff come in at 6am to replace the rice bowls. TV only available on the ground floor. The toilet has a washlet, but it is a Japanese style, making it difficult to use. There is no air conditioning in the room, so it can be cold at times. There is a refrigerator. No service water."

"The accommodation was well equipped and I was able to spend without any inconvenience. The cleaning was well done and there was a feeling of cleanliness. The barbecue facilities were also easy to use, and it felt uncomfortable to use it by two people. The Wi-Fi connection was unstable, so I wish it was a little more stable. I would like to use it again."
