The Long Hotel

Probably the worst experience in Vietnam, if not ever on my holiday. Every person in Vietnam is so kind, but these people have the most arrogant and obnoxious attitude. I bet they don’t want to earn money based on assistance because that’s the last thing you will get at this place. Instead, head over to the other side and ask for help from Mike’s hostel! There they are very kind.

Dont go there. These people have taken classes on how to be as unfriendly and arrogant as possible. I was so amazed by their attitude, go and ask them a question you’ll see. We’ve asked multiple people there and all of them where as bad.

Scam experience. We booked an overnight bus from Tam Coc to Hue. We paid 630,000 for a 20 pax luxury sleeper bus. We waited for the bus for about an hour since it was late, once it was here we were completely rushed into it, with no moment to think of what was going on. Our luggage was thrown into it and we went in. This bus was a 36pax bus with probable other 15 people sleeping on the floor and some other cabins had multiple adults in it. We couldn’t really look back because the bus was already moving and we didn’t even have a seat. Finally they find two seats and we take them. The driver drives horribly. Not my first long bus in Vietnam, it was impossible to sleep because of this. Lots of noise and people watching Tik Tok. The bus manager would be screaming and walking through the aisles. At some point, he opens my curtain, and, without asking, places a notebook on my leg and starts writing, without looking at me. He made me very uncomfortable and told him not to touch me, he yelled at me. Any time he would walk through, he would press himself agains me through the curtain. At this point I didn’t know if on purpose or not. As you read on other reviews, the bus keeps fish as well with the luggage. We were also promised by the agency we’d arrive earliest at 6:30am, since we don’t have a hotel reservation for the night of the bus. We arrived at 5am, with a very strange man who seemed to be friends with the bus driver only saying hello to foreign girls and asking if we were alone. Very uncomfortable and scammy experience. Don’t book here.

We were promised a sleeper bus from Tam Coc to Hue, and a 2 hour bus from Hue to Hoi An. Instead, we were made to get off in Dong Ha (6 hours for Hoi An) and wait for 1.5 for a long and very crowded bus to Ha Noi. At Dong Ha, the bus driver was very rude and yelled at us to get off the bus. On the transfer bus, the driver dropped everyone to their residences. He refused to drop us off at our hostel, only three minutes drive from the bus station.

We booked with the travel office of the hotel to go from Ninh Binh to Phong Nha by sleeper bus. We first needed to take a different bus for 40 minutes without a seat to get to our bus, because “they didn’t want to take a detour for a few people”. We payed to go with a cabin sleeper, but instead of getting a cabin, we were placed in the isle to sleep on the floor. The bus was clearly overbooked. Furthermore, the last stretch of an hour we had to transfer again to a taxi to get to Phong Nha.
