We stayed in the family lodge - a lounge and kitchen common area with three bedrooms - the unit is on poles, is dated and slightly lopsided - remote from the reception and dining area you will need transport to access along sandy roads - we had both dinner and breakfast (both buffets) - the dinner which needed to be booked was not value for money with limited quantities of popular dishes such as a bland venison curry - breakfast was certainly value for money and with all and more than expected. I can't comment on pricing as I was a guest. The game drive was a non event until spiced up by a herd of elephants approacing as we rouned a corner on our way back - hats off to the ranger as he revered some 300 meters to a junction in the track giving us safety options - a memorable experience.

Bonamanzi offers great value for money for what it offers. Being able to walk freely without armed guards in such special sand forest is one of a kind

Rooms have old furniture, and bathrooms in need of refurbishment. Lighting on pathways and streets was very dim, yet animals were roaming around houses. I felt too scared to sit or walk near building and to the restaurant/reception at night. Additionally, the network and Wi-Fi signal were extremely poor, rendering our cellphones practically useless, even though we needed to communicate with stakeholders.

This reserve is a birdwatcher's delight! Upon arrival at reception, the staff were on standby to give us a warm and friendly welcome, fresh juices, and a lovely, scented hand towel wipe. We were directed to our campsite and handed a map of the reserve. The rest of our stay was delightful. The campsite amenities were spotlessly clean and well-serviced during our stay. Waking up to the call of so many different bird species was a special treat. We saw plenty of game species and found the roads easy to navigate in our 4x4 vehicle. There are also some nicely situated swimming pools, which serve as a late afternoon cool-off spot. Overall, it was a pleasant stay, and we look forward to returning sometime.

I absolutely loved it! The staff are warm, welcoming, and very professional. The chef is world class. The accommodation is tasteful, comfortable and spotless. The setting is gorgeous and I saw numerous animals. I felt safe and pampered throughout. It way surpassed expectations and I’d love to go back. Don’t hesitate. It’s a very, very special place.

My 3-year old and I stayed 2 nights in a Lalapanzi chalet. We loved it, and had a great experience! The reserve is absolutely beautiful, the staff friendly and accommodating, and the rooms comfortable. Would highly recommend!

Great palce - we love Bonamanzi. Excellent service, that staff are so helpful and cheerfull all the time. The campsite and ablutions were spotless and very well kept. Great viewings of birds, buffalo, elephant and plains animals. We will be back!
