Ty Newydd Country Hotel

On arrival after a long day the receptionist was very accomadating and couldn't have been more helpful. The restaurant was also very helpful in providing us with a great meal at short notice. It was all very good value for money. The room was good for us but we think this was primarily for disabled people the coat hooks were too high and the tv was too small and we think should have been wall mounted so you could watch it in bed.

Afternoon tea awful we asked for no cucumber and was given salad sandwiches..The waitress said she couldn't be bothered working today as she was tired . Came back 3 times and said I forgot what you want to drink . Cakes were stale aswell left most of the food why have a chicken select and onion ring? Not worth £50 !!

Terrible experience. Dated and poorly decorated rooms. Dirty brown carpet. Springy dated uncomfortable old bed. Paid for a superior room however we were given a double. No one on reception when we went to complain. Arrived at 8:30 however no evening meal available. Ended up leaving around 11pm the same night we checked in. Will never be going back there.... Save yourselves a bad experience and get a travelodge or premier inn. At least you know what you are getting then

There were long black hairs under the sheets of the bed , my wife has blonde hair ! There were no tea and coffee supplies in the room not even a mug . The bathroom was not clean . I was incredibly disappointed with the room considering it was a four star hotel . Our room was no better than a budget travel lodge . I had booked three rooms and thank fully both other rooms had been refurbished and were in a standard that i expected . I totally understand the refurbishing needing to be done however felt it was a very poor room and I should not of had to pay the four star rate for a below average room . It very much spilt my stay and if it were not for my wife I woujd certainly of complained on the night . Incredibly dissatisfied!!

We initially booked this hotel 2 years ago but were unable to visit. We went into their “shuffle” system and were able to rebook for last weekend. We had used a voucher however the rates online were over £150/night. We arrived at 8:30pm on a Friday after driving since 3pm. We were hoping for a drink and quick snack in the onsite bar but on arrival we were told no refreshments were available. We were disappointed as no one from the property tried calling us to inform us of this, and there are no other options nearby to the property. My wife and I have both worked for a well known BUDGET hotel brand that makes sure to call all guests, especially when the restaurant is closing so people can make arrangements on their travels. So was very disappointing to not receive this easy service (particularly given the hotel was not busy, only us and 1 other room booked!) On arrival, after being told by the reservations agent all was paid, we were charged £20 for the provision of a baby cot. We were not told this in advance. The room (although it looked clean) was disappointing. The mattress sunk in the middle and there was an extra guest in our room (huge spider in a proportionately large cobweb over the window). This was disappointing and on further inspection revealed further cleanliness issues such as mould around the shower head and a lack of soap in the room. Overall a very disappointing stay to the point where we checked out a day early and chose to pay to stay at another hotel instead. The receptionist did not question why we chose to check out early.

We organised a St David’s Day evening meal here for 27 guest. Mark the manager was superb with the arrangements and helping with ideas. The menu and quality of the food was amazing Gemma and the 2 bar staff who looked after us were also superb. Excellent location.
