South Mimms/Potters Bar

Self check in didn’t work, so had to wait for a member of staff to become available as they were working in the bar/restaurant. I would expect reception to be covered at all times to deal with any queries. We only had one set of towels in our room, and couldn’t find anyone to ask for another set. This has actually put me off staying in another premier inn!

Excellent breakfast and allergen knowledge. Asked when we arrived at breakfast if we had any allergens. Presented with allergen menu and then shown where the potential allergens were. Offered fresh cooked if required. Couldn’t fault. .

Sometimes life sends you a curve ball, and due to work this was one of the positive ones. Checkin was smooth and easy. The room is nice and quiet. The staff in the reception, bar and restaurant were polite and looked after me very well. Food portions at breakfast and dinner were good, and the quality of the food was excellent. If you are in the area and need a hotel, I would definitely recommend this one.

From the outside the hotel doesn’t look great but inside it is a completely different story. Nicely decorated reception area and my room was clean, quiet and well equipped. Very friendly and helpful staff team. Location is easy to find and there is plenty of parking

The hotel was fairly run down and dated, the window wasn't one that opened and the air conditioner turned off every night while we were sleeping causing us to over heat 4 in a small room with basically no air I had to get up to turn it back on and shower each night on the second night my middle child got so warm he vomited on 2 of the beds and on the floor whilst I was sorting him out with a shower etc my oldest (16) went to find a member of staff so I could get new bed sheets for the children and some cleaning products etc after pressing the bell 3 times someone finally turned up she explained what had happened and was immediately told she couldn't move rooms as they are fully booked she never asked to move rooms he repeated this several times shortly as she asked for new sheets and cleaning products he finally gave her two base sheets and once again told her she wouldn't be able to move rooms which we never asked to do no quilt covers or pillow cases which she brought back to me she went back down to reception a few moments later to ask again for cleaning products to be offered a towel to scoop it up with! We finally managed to get some anti bac spray and a cloth but no gloves or anything to scoop the sick into :( so I spent the next half hour scrubbing the floor with shampoo and boiled water :( and had to sleep with no covers on the badly stained quilts we were exhausted. The first night we were there dinner was lovely however when I inquired about the kids eat free deal you had on the website I got told they hadn't heard anything about it then got told I couldn't have it because I'd ordered the children desert so on top of the meal deals and full price round of drinks id ordered I also had to pay for the children's meals etc the following day however the same waitress informed me she had now worked out how to put it through so the kids can eat free tonight but no mention of a refund for the previous night :( second night dinner went well and as promised the kids are free third night was a new waitress she was very short with us and had no manners she stood by the till all night allowing the chef to do all the running we ordered water for the table with her twice for it not to turn up until we were ready to leave I also asked her for some extra gravy for my pie as it came with the smallest amount of gravy and it was all congealed and cold this also never came I ended up eating it cold for waiting so long :( I asked my daughter to order dessert for her and the boys as I was miserable eating my cold pie so she went up to ask her as she never left the till to be told to sit down I'll be over in 5 to take an order she then continued to stand there doing nothing when she finally came over to take to take the order my daughter was no longer in the mood for dessert either so we just said we wanted ice cream for the boys when it came out of the kitchen later the waitress had no idea who it was for so it went back into the kitchen someone else brought

If you need WiFi this is a hotel I will never go back to. Reception desk tried to help and supplied a free upgrade for 3 x devices and a code. I only found 2 x places where the wifi worked but for only a few seconds, that was in the bar (where it was too cold to sit) and the wifi kept dropping out after about 10 second and half way along a corridor. For personal family matters it was important to have good or any wifi. NOT GOOD ENOUGH!! The food selection was good, the steak was tough as old boots and the pie made my wife sick. And if you like lettuce with brown edges and limp, have a salad.
