She supported us with excellent restaurant recommendations and gave valuable tips for day trips in the area. The generous breakfast deserves special mention, offering a wide selection of fresh fruit and various freshly prepared egg dishes. Everything was beautifully presented and of high quality. The rooms are very spacious and thoughtfully decorated with great attention to detail. In the room, coffee, tea, and water are provided. The bathroom is perfectly equipped — nothing is missing. There are even candles to create a relaxing atmosphere in the bathtub, as well as tissues and many small extras that make a difference. Thank you, Celia, for hosting us so warmly at Selkirk House. "We had a little trouble accessing the property as the gate intercom was lacking credit. Once we checked in everything was good. There was space to sit outside in the sun and enjoy the fresh air. It was an easy walk in to town to choose a place for dinner or to walk along the seafront and enjoy the views. We had a comfortable room, bed and pillows and woke to the sound of birds chirping happily. Breakfast was plentiful and we left refreshed."

"We loved our stay here, the house is really pretty and traditional, very nicely furnished and very clean. Our bedroom had French doors onto the terrace that wraps around the house and overlooked tropical gardens and a golf course with mountains to the side and behind. The service was amazing, we even found that our car had been washed before we left! Breakfast was beautiful, cooked to order and a beautiful setting. Hermanus itself was lovely and felt very quaint and safe with a stunning cliff walk. The house has secure gates but we walked from the house to the beach and path and enjoyed the walk. We would definitely return"

"Gorgeous hotel, well appointed in a quiet residential area of Hermanus, we stayed in the Villa part of the property, a reasonably new addition lovely, bright and modern big comfy beds and gorgeous bathrooms, and with solar power so no load shedding issues here. Breakfasts every day were cooked to order and delicious, plus the buffet pancakes were delicious. The pool area is the perfect place to relax and unwind after a long day. They also have an honesty bar, which is very handy, too. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and will for sure return. We must really thank Aspen, who's great customer service, made our stay magical and special. Thank you so much for having us and looking after us so well"

Inside you will find antiques, comfortable furnishings, and memorabilia. The bedrooms are all different and very cosy with some overlooking the sea. There is a small pretty garden and pool and the property serves a super breakfast on the terrace overlooking the sea. The staff are very friendly and make you feel at home. The town centre with restaurants and bars is just 5 minutes walk away. A great place to stay!"

"The owners of this hotel need to give some thought as to what makes a client happy. Our room was very spacious with a lovely view. That is where the compliments end. In extreme wind we had to walk outside to get into our room, despite there being a door inside the hotel leading directly into our suite. We were told by the manager that the door was “ for the staff’s use only to service the room”. The same applied to getting to breakfast. We had to walk outside in the howling wind, through a door that was very difficult to open, only to discover the manager had walked through the house via the kitchen, wind free. There were workmen on a Sunday morning painting around the pool. I decided as it was windy I would use the gym, only to discover a painter inside there too and, as a result, the room had such strong paint fumes it was unusable. There was no cappuccino or lattes available at breakfast, no none dairy options either. On the table there was only cheap table salt, no course salt. The shower had no hand rail or seat and the bath had nowhere to place shampoo or soap. No wonder we had to sign an indemnity at check in. And the hotel is not cheap. With a great location and some sweet staff who serviced our room, it will be a pity if these issues are not resolved. We packed up and left early. Did not see one other guest there. Not surprised."
