Auberge Burgundy Boutique Hotel & Spa

Having returned from what was possibly our 9th or 10th stay at Auberge, I am writing this with mixed feelings. We have always loved the Auberge but embracing some of the changes has been difficult. On the other hand there have been changes over the year that have been welcomed. We know both the Spa and the restaurant Frances have been successful additions. A friend of mine had a manicure/pedicure at the Spa this year and raved about it. The new wooden awning at the pool was welcome,(it was HOT when we were there), the pool deck and loungers/chairs will apparently be treated this year and that will be great (3 of us got splinters this year.) The little lounge is always a plus. Although this year we didnt really spend time there. At night especially it is a wonderful cosy nook. The ambiance, the location and the familiar / friendly staff have always been the main drawcards of this little gem. When any of those change, it causes the mixed feelings. No visit would ever be the same without David who has been around longer than us, always smiling, and always helpful. Jasper was always smiling and Le Chante, who we believe is leaving, brought so much warmth and made us all feel so welcome again. There were so many familiar faces amongst the guests too - some of these simultaneous bookings are in fact prearranged - and we always look forward to those reunions as well. This little gem can deliver - has delivered, and we look forward to being able to share more special times there.

The location is superb and is a stone's throw from the restaurants and boutiques of Hermanus. Despite the central location, we had no issues with noise during our stay (our garden room did not face the main road and Hermanus is not a late place in any event). Our room was well appointed, clean and very comfortable. Extras like robes/fridge/tea and coffee provided. There was no aircon, but the ceiling was pretty effective. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful.Breakfast was served at the restaurant next to the hotel and was tasty. We enjoyed a complimentary port/sherry in the hotel's lounge (the lounge itself was beautifully decorated in keeping with the hotel's French theme). The pool area was great- surprisingly peaceful and relaxing for such a central location.

A dream come true We had always walked past this stunning hotel whenever we’d visit Hermanus, promising ourselves we’d treat ourselves one day. Well- we just did- and what a treat it was. Brilliant from the moment we arrived to the moment I we departed. All the staff were super welcoming from the parking to reception (Connor). We were upgraded to the penthouse with the best view ever. Spacious suite with everything super clean and light and bright. Free bottle of wine due to VIP status and treats in the room as well. Breakfast at the adjacent restaurant was wonderful and again the staff were super friendly and welcoming. This will definitely be our go to hotel in Hermanus for the future. Situated in the centre of the action with amazing staff who help in every way. The rooms are huge, the linen crisp, the lounge cosy, the breafast at Frances next door delicious. The front suites have amazing views of the bay. The garden suites are peaceful and secluded. Parking in front was a huge plus as we could then walk everywhere for our stay.

Great staff. Spacious room. Close to restaurants, shopping and whale watching from land. Highly recommend.

Best Location, and a nice boutique hotel for and acceptable price. Breakfast menu was very good, but a limited buffet. Nice rooms. Parking is limited, but we got good help, - early check in recommended. Excellent service.
