Premier Inn Hereford Holmer

The room we initially entered smelled of cigarette smoke, however when we informed the reception staff they promptly moved us to a different room. The room itself was clean and the air conditioning meant it was cool and not too stuffy during the night. The bed was comfortable and there wasn't too much outside noise. Although the breakfast was tasy - we went down for breakfast an hour before close and ordered our vegan sausages and bacon - however when we went up to get other cooked items (beans, tomatoes, mushrooms, hashbrowns etc), everything was empty. We then had to wait 15 minutes for the other items to be cooked which meant our sausages and bacon had gone cold. It would have been better if the items were replenished when they started to go low instead of asking us and others at breakfast if they wanted more, as you then felt bad for asking even though you had paid for it. One last thing to mention - there is a massive pot hole as you come in/out of the car park so be careful!

Staff were all friendly and helpful. The room wasn't quite up to the normal standard I expect from Premier Inn. There was facial hair behind the sink in the bathroom, and the room smelt damp, there was black mould on the back of the bathroom door. The carpet could have done with a better vacuum.

Nice enough hotel, the bed is comfortable and what's expected from a premier inn. The room had all the basics required except bedside sockets. Was understaffed and had to wait around a lot. The restaurant menu is very restricted and not particularly welcoming as you sit on what used to be a bar area/entrance.

What has happened to this place. We've had excellent stays previously. The room smelt musty so had to leave window open. Many maintenance issues ... lights not working in room and bathroom, no security chain on door or self closing working properly. Staff couldn't be faulted and did what they could but were unable to solve our issues. No empty rooms were available for us to move to. The poor lady on reception seemed to be doing everything, she was even at breakfast after working late the previous night

We've stayed in many Premier Inns and although this wasn't an awful experience, it's certainly the worst one we've stayed in by far. Previous reviews mentioned the hotel being dated which we don't mind, but this needed a full refurbishment, deep clean and complete overhaul throughout. All of the staff seemed like they didn't really want to be there. We weren't warmly and professionally greeted by any of the staff we interacted with. The room was incredibly dated, as were the general communal areas and corridors. Lots and lots of wear and tear everywhere. Doorways looked like they'd been hacked at. The shower was either scalding hot or cold, even with very minor adjustments there was no in-between. This is incredibly dangerous, especially if children were to use it. I was burned by this it was that hot. Was planning on mentioning this at check out but nobody was there when we actually departed. We didn't spend a huge amount of time in the room after check in, so were shocked during the night to be woken up multiple times by the radiator clicking/rattling very loudly, which we were unable to stop. It was startling and loud enough that it sounded like someone was opening the door to our room. Also the chair in the room was very hard and very squeaky, obviously needs replacing. We had a free unlimited breakfast offer which was good but would have felt ripped off if we'd paid full price for it. The breakfast wasn't added onto our booking for some reason, so the uninterested receptionist had to spend a few minutes finding this upon check in. Breakfast was lukewarm at best and the restaurant itself was very small, cramped and hard to navigate. We were made aware via email that there were refurbishments taking place, which was clearly well overdue, but signs weren't updated to show where the toilets were located. No staff to be seen to ask for help to find them, although we eventually did.
