The Hive at Poppi-Red

Can't praise the staff enough, helpful, friendly, accomodating, and the room was lovely. We both had the full English breakfast which was superbly cooked and high quality, and check in was easy and convenient. The only downside was that the mattress was just too firm for both myself and my wife which lead to a quite uncomfortable nights sleep, the staff kindly offered to switch rooms however they all have the same mattress on the beds so this wouldn't have improved the situation, and we decided to leave a night early due to this. I fully appreciate that a mattress firmness is very much a personal preference so depending on the individual it may or may not be a concern, but I do think it's something to be aware of, as a comfortable nights sleep is the primary reason for staying somewhere and sadly we couldn't acheive this. This was the only downside to an otherwise excellent accomodation which I'd happily recommend to anyone looking to stay in the area.

We stayed for one night on Friday and we loved it here! The location is right in the middle of the village and the car park is a street away £8.50 for 24 hours. We self checked in and it was simple with a door code to access the building and the room which was the same. We had an issue on the evening accessing our room and I rang the number and someone was there within a few mins (this was our error as we was doing something wrong) The room was lovely and had everything we needed. Breakfast was delicious and all very fresh. One of the best we have had. We will certainly be coming back very soon. Thank you Andrea & Carlo

Gorgeous location for a fantastic property. When I visited the main cafe/restaurant was closed so it was all self check. This was really simple and really easy, suited me down to the ground. The building is lovely and clearly well maintained. The bedrooms are lovely, lots of nice touches, really warm and cosy. I would 100% recommend and definitely stay here again. The beds were very comfy and impeccably clean. The room itself could have had some more attention to detail in terms of dusting, but aside from that it was beautiful and I enjoyed my stay

The hive is a self check in with no scope to arrive early. Parking is a street away and they have no electric charging spaces working. The room was lovely but a bit tired. Stained carpets, broken blind, fridge not working, freezing cold, no streaming tv and limited channels with signal. Breakfast was lovely.

The rooms have clearly had some thought and care in their design and decoration HOWEVER they desperately need some redecoration (badly scuffed and coffee stained walls) and a very deep clean. I stayed in the smallest room, which was adequate and well appointed, but couldn’t wait to leave by the morning. It would have been good value if someone seemed to care about the place. No staff on hand, other than surly restaurant staff who seem to have nothing to do with the rooms above. In it’s current condition, I couldn’t recommend it.
