Horse and Hound Country Inn

We booked a table by phone for 7 in the evening, we arrived ten minutes before. When we entered the restaurant we were told they hadn’t a table available, but gave us the option to sit in the bar or outside. I was a little annoyed but we sat in the bar area and waited for someone to come and take our order. No one came so I proceeded into the restaurant only to see a table had become free and a couple who’d just walked in took it straight away I then realised it was a free for all, booking tables and reserving them wasn’t something this establishment was capable of doing. I asked the restaurant manager what was going off, her attitude was quite rude and aggressive and basically blamed the owners of the establishment for the failures. Absolutely no idea about running a restaurant and I couldn’t tell you what the food was like as we left. I wouldn’t recommend this pub but I may have caught them on a bad day. And there isn’t a pub for miles so they probably know that people will still come whether the reviews are good or not. They did sell Timothy Taylor’s Landlord that was the only positive

Poor wifi signal in room kept dropping not ideal for work. Shower not very good in room either water trickles out. Food really good & friendly staff.

Good value hotel, clean and tidy also the staff were very friendly and helpful

We stayed at this Country Inn for 2 nights . We found the checking in process unwelcoming . I booked 2 deluxe rooms however Room 5 was very small and basic not even a wardrobe and the toilet you had to pump to get it to work the shower was ok but could have been cleaner. There was a mug under the radiator I assume for a leak as the mug had a rust mark on it Room 2 was slightly better decorated. I did speak to the proprietor about the room and his remark was “It’s a 300year old building” I could not accept this as a reason for describing the room online as deluxe. The space where there is a chest of drawers could easily have been for a wardrobe The dinner food and service by the young ladies was good , breakfast also good ,thank you

Lovely hotel in countryside, very friendly staff and delicious breakfast.

Visited the restaurant for dinner while visting in nearby Jedburgh. Hadn't booked in advance but staff were very welcoming. Lovely atmosphere and decor. Great selection on the menu and the quality and quantity of food provided was excellent. Thoroughly recommend.
