The Pier Hotel

Wonderful updated Victorian hotel on the seafront in Harwich, the port from which the Mayflower set sail in 1620. Very comfortable rooms, with views out over the harbor and estuary. Excellent breakfast. The old town in which the hotel is set is worth exploring too, and one cannot but notice the potential here. Harwich reminds one of Marblehead, in Massachusetts.

I booked The Pier for one night for my wife's birthday , We were looking forward to our evening meal as the reviews looked good sadly things did not go so well. The starters were ok but main course not great the restaurant manager was good and we came to a nice end to the evening. The breakfast the next morning was the best English breakfast I have eaten in any hotel. The restaurant staff were great at all times and room was very clean with a great view bed was so comfortable.

We chose The Pier for our wedding anniversary weekend away. Never been to Harwich but The Pier enticed us. We had room 3 which gave us 3 windows and amazing views. Bed was sooo comfortable and the little touches were very welcome. The Elemis toiletries were all full and the complimentary soft drinks in the fridge (still/fizzy water and coke) were all replaced on day two. Coffee bags and very nice tea bag’s were also replenished with a little bottle of fresh milk. Breakfast was truly amazing and I sent compliments to the chef. Great choice but full English was hot and very tasty. Caroline (the Scottish lady!) was attentive, friendly and we felt as though we were the only people she had served that morning. What an absolute gem and a credit to The Quay. We had dinner on our anniversary night and this was also excellent, not cheap but the food and the service was out of this world. We spent two days in Harwich which was enough to see most of the historic landmarks. We found the “Banksy” but the internet isn’t sure it’s a genuine one but fun all the same. The Quay is in a perfect location and all the staff are lovely.

What a wonderful find! We 'escaped in secret ' on Saturday to the Pier. We were in the annexe and it was lovely! The bedroom was large with a separate sofa and large comfy chair at the far end by the TV. The bed was comfy with lovely linen and the bathroom was gorgeous with Elemis soaps and shampoo. Loved the complimentary mini bar and the lounge for guests which was well used. Breakfast was delicious and the service was friendly. Highly recommend!!

Thank you for a wonderful 70th Birthday lunch for my husband one of our favourite places to go made even more special by having your lovely private dining area every thing was delicious also thank you to our waitress who was very professional a great asset to your restaurant

Lovely to be back at The Pier hotel, we try and visit at least annually and always stay in the Mayflower suite. The staff are always friendly and welcoming and remember the little details from previous stays that make all the difference. Caroline remains Queen of the breakfast service and always goes the extra mile. Thank you all for making our Ruby wedding visit feel special.
