Te Awa Lodge

We stayed tree wonderful nights at this magic place. The tranquility - just looking out on the river and watching the birds... But also close to Paihia to go for sailing, kayaking up the Waitangi River or simply walking the Harare Falls Track through the Mangroves. So much more to do. But the best were the wonderful hosts. Our interesting and informative conversations. We very much enjoyed our breakfasts every morning with fresh fruit and berries, yoghurt, muesli and delicious cheese - just as we like it. Thank you, Martin and Adilson.

It is a top place with the best service you can het. Breakfast is excellent with fresh fruit and good cheese. It is sereen, clean, quiet, with beautiful sun. You get a lot of tips from the owners what you can do. Excellent place to see a lot of the Bay of Islands. In our room we saw the river from our bed. Really great. I recommend everybody to stay over here. It was the best stay we could have at the end of our trip in New Zeeland. Clemens and Ilona

Best place EVER to relax and decompress. River sounds and view insure it. Hosts are great and accommodations are luxurious. Take binoculars if you want to watch the birds bathing in the river in the morning and evening. Mostly seagulls but there are ducks and herons along with other local birds.

It's really hard to review a place that is as perfect as perfect can be. We arrived to be greeted by a broad-smiling Martin, who welcomed us like long-lost friends. Adilson soon joined the entrance gathering with warmth and friendliness. We hadn’t even stepped through the door, and we already felt "home." I can't go into detail because I would be here all day; suffice it to say that their joint 60+ years of providing excellent service to air travelers made them ideal hosts. Their keen eye for detail, quality, and superb taste has resulted in a truly unique experience of luxury and tranquility. Adilson’s natural green fingers have transformed the gardens into a wonderful botanical paradise. The breakfast experience was delightful, with a beautifully presented selection of fruits, breads, cereals, and juices, along with eggs cooked to order should you wish, and some lovely locally produced jams, marmalade, and a very special lemon curd. Bij deze B&B wordt je vriendelijk ontvangen. We voelden ons echt meteen welkom. Een kop koffie bij ontvangst met gezellig praatje. De eigenaren zijn erg betrokken en geinterresseerd in je. De lodge is van alle gemakken voorzien en het uitzicht op de rivier is adembenemend. Het ontbijt was super. Het centrum ligt dichtbij, van waaruit je verschillende excursies kan boeken. Al met al een echt aanrader!

Our stay at Te Awa Lodge was delightful. Martin is an exceptional host. Breakfasts were great with lots of fresh fruit, yogurt and eggs if we wished. Our accommodation was comfortable and quiet. Very calming and beautiful overlooking the river where a flock of gulls congregated every morning. Martin gave us great ideas for walks, wineries and restaurants. So much nicer to stay here a short distance from the main hub of touristy Paihia. It was relaxing to come back and take a dip In the small swimming pool in the late afternoon. Highly recommend!
