Lairds Lodge Country Estate

A beautiful home from home. Stunning grounds and pool. There is no typical restaurant on-site, or room service, but they do a set menu each evening at 7pm. This is delicious, so worth it. The staff were very attentive, warm and caring. Each morning at breakfast the manager asked us our plans for the day and provided recommendations and local tips. Thanks to this we managed to catch the Saturday market and dine at a local nearby restaurant (Zinzi, highly recommend!), which we would otherwise have missed. The hotel even drove us to/from the restaurant at a very reasonable cost and the driver was so nice. The room and bathroom, though really clean, is slightly dated. The bathroom more so than the room. The tiles had just been painted over and the taps really stiff. The shower pressure was rubbish. It could really do with a refresh. There was also a lack of attention to detail with no hooks for dressing gowns, a lack of plugs, hair dryer didn’t work etc. It wouldn’t put me off going back, but just not as luxurious as we expected. Otherwise a really good stay, I’d give 4.5 stars if I could.

We would recommend Lairds to anyone travelling on the garden route: The food in the hotel was fantastic. Every single staff member we met was extremely attentive. A special mention to Bani - he was always checking to make sure we had everything we needed. He even got up early at 6.30am to help us with our cases as we needed to get on the road sharp. Nothing was too much trouble for him and the rest of the team. Lovely people working hard to ensure the best for their guests. Would stay again.

We stayed at lairds lodge for two nights and wish we could stay longer!! The service is incredible and so genuine. The attention to detail combined with a friendly smile really did make this place stand out from the rest and after lots of travelling and different hotels, made for a homely feel too. Breakfast and dinner was brilliant, better than 5 star restaurants we had visited during the holiday. The style and decor is so quirky and creates for a really relaxing environment. If you are visiting Plet on the garden route this is a good option too.

This is just the most amazing guest house. It’s absolutely delightful with wonderful staff. They were all so very kind , helpful and just lovely. The diner was sublime, cooked to perfection and served with incredible insights and an education on glasses for wine ! Breakfast also fab. The pool area is lovely, didn’t go in but spent a very pleasant couple of hours sitting around it. Highly recommend.

We came across this hotel after researching online following a bad experience in a previous hotel. When we asked if there was availability they could not have made us feel more welcome. Everything from that point on was nothing short of perfect. As it was our honeymoon they put complimentary prosecco and chocolates in our room. We also enjoy eating in on both nights and the food was gorgeous. A special mention to Eddie who truly made our experience even more special! We only wish we could have stayed longer!

Beautiful location despite pretty awful weather! We had a wonderful two night stay and ate in the wine cellar on both evenings. The staff were friendly and welcoming and could not do enough for us, from spending time giving tips on what to see and do locally, to providing hot water bottles at night due to the unseasonably cold weather! The food was exceptional - both in taste, creativity and value. A real highlight of our stay.
