I arrived, around 1pm, to take advantage of my gift of an early check in. The reception was unattended & the shutter was closed & locked. Two different signs advertised two different phone numbers to call. One of which is disconnected. Not a great start to my stay. About 15 minutes after calling the receptionist arrived. Check in was quick and easy. The receptionist was affable & he explained the use of the key for unlocking the shutter if required. The room had a simple, efficient, modern layout & all necessary appliances. However the TV had no reception. The Aircon was erratic. It kept cooling even after the temperature gauge was increased. The room was superficially clean but on closer inspection showed hair & grime in the shower & kitchen. Still for the price paid it was adequate & the WiFi worked well. I enquired about the Halong Bay cruise tour advertised in the hotel foyer where a tour sales desk was located. I was referred to a website & later received a few texts asking for more information which I could have given when I met the salesman face to face. I was told what I wanted wasn't currently available. Suffice to say I opted to go elsewhere & found what I wanted. The following morning there was a different but still affable receptionist. I needed more toilet tissue & soap. He delivered the toilet tissue but apparently needed to check that there wasn't anymore soap left in the container before replacing it. It was quite comical but strange. The receptionist was jovial and obliging in the end. I only stayed the one night. There was nothing majorly bad about the apartment. Just some annoying things. But I can do without annoying.
