The Swan Inn

A great pub/restaurant. The bar area is quite small so there’s not many seats, and because the outside garden areas are normally quite busy with dogs and humans, there’s usually a queue of people waiting to get served. This can make the bar area seem a little less like a nice drinking area and a bit more like a serving space. But service is good and quick and you can sometimes eat in the bar (not sure if you can do that on a Sunday). The restaurant area is great. There’s the main area without dogs and then the conservatory area which allows them…and obviously outside. Service is good, it can sometimes be a little slow and inconsistent, but generally the staff are very friendly and pleasant. The food is excellent. The Sunday roast was great. The desserts are a bit oddly weird, in fact you could say the same about the starters. If they could get a better selection of starters and desserts it would be perfect. Overall a great place to eat on a Sunday or any night. But you need to book… and make sure you’re not allergic to dogs!! They’re everywhere!

We had a meal for 16 for a birthday celabration. Could not fault it from start to finish! We had a lovely welcome, were quickly shown to our table in the conservatory and the drinks order taken. All of the staff were professional, friendly and on the ball. All of the family were impressed that we hadn't needed to pre-order for the party. There was plenty of choice, including accommodation of allergies, and excellent quality of food. The birthday dessert was a lovely surprise :-) Huge thanks for making it such a memorable evening for all of us.

We booked Sunday lunch at The swan and were promptly seated by very courteous and friendly staff. The food was served up promptly and that was the best part, the hake was served in a cold bowl making it difficult to eat with a knife and fork, why not a plate? The fish was however very nice. Others had the beef and vegetarian which were spoilt by poor roast potatoes, overcooked Yorkshire pudding and blackened cauliflower. The service was however excellent.

By far the best pub around Worcestershire. I visit the Swan very frequently due to how friendly the staff are, how great the food is and and how nice the venue is. All the staff are extremely helpful, very friendly and always want you to have a nice experience. The food is also very good and well worth every penny, please give this place a visit! Whether it be for a drink or a meal you are sure to have a very good one.

me and my family visited for my nans 93rd birthday. the things that were said by staff were awful. there was a man named craig i believe and he came over to my nan and said “93rd birthday? crikey you’re basically a ticking time bomb at this point. just make sure you don’t kick the bucket in my pub or else we will get bad reviews” then proceeded to tell us the only thing we could order was fish and chips. he also was very abusive to his staff. do not recommend

This was our first 'proper' visit, having been in the winter when it was so full inside that there was no room for us. Today we were given a warm welcome by Will at the bar that immediately made us feel valued customers. On a very hot Sunday afternoon we sat in the large garden in very comfortable seats, enjoying the excellent white wine and the tranquil atmosphere. My wife and I look forward to returning here soon. We booked a table at the Swan Inn, Hanley for my daughters 12th Birthday. On arrival they couldn't find the booking and made out they were very busy despite it being a quiet Tuesday evening at 7.00. When ordering a Birthday Mocktail they advised that their bar person familiar with cocktails was not working that day so we would have to choose something else. Not a good start. The Table service was generally rude and incompetent at one point the waitress reached over the table to hand my wife her main on a hot plate expecting her to take it from them whilst having no oven cloth. She automatically took it believing the plate not to be hot and was burnt. The waitress seemed surprised but offered no apology. Having eaten at the restaurant regularly and happily over the years this is a unfortunate development and we won't be returning until its under new management and raises its game.

Dog friendly venue. Lovely pub food with polite and efficient service. We had a steak and a burger - both premium quality and delicious. Starters and desserts did not disappoint everything beautifully presented.

Had the pleasure of staying here for a week while visiting family. The staff were amazing! Nothing was too much trouble, quick service and always happy to advise on local walks. The food was delicious, they are extremely dog friendly, hotel was exceptionally clean. The lighting in the rooms was a little low, so difficult to read in the evenings, but that would be my only downside. Would definitely stay again!
