We travel quite a bit and stay exclusively at Hilton properties, and usually at Hampton. The past few stays at other Hampton inns have been disappointing as they were undergoing renovations or needed to undergo Renovations. Reading reviews for “nearby” Hilton properties, the Hammond LA Hampton definitely received the best reviews, but also had a higher price. What the heck? We’ll give it a try. Check in was very smooth, after being greeted by two lovely ladies who immediately offered us bottles of water on a hot day, before even asking for our name. The hotel lobby looked brand new, with carpet, walls and doors all in good condition. Proceeded to the elevator, also spotless and looking new, then down the hall to our room. Most hotels show the residual signs of renovation (broken tile, poor paint lines, missing trim…) and some new hotels have those issues. This hotel looked new, but with close pr inspection it was clear that it is been exceptionally well maintained. Door trim pant is touched up, paint lines are crisp, shower door fits correctly (no leakage), and any repairs have been painted with the appropriate color. It is clear that the hotel owner values their investment, and strives to keep it in tip top condition. Haven’t seen the breakfast yet, but I’ll be surprised if it’s not excellent. Will definitely be making Hammond LA a stop on our Texas- Florida trips.
