Rua Resort

Colleen was outwardly very pleasant when my husband went to check in. After I introduced myself, she asked both of us where we were from and we told her that we were from the US and as part of the conversation asked us how long we have lived there. My husband replied 45 years to which her answer was “you don’t have an American accent”. Are all her customers subject to such remarks or is it just us? Her website indicates laundry as available but we could not use it as we had no idea where it was and Colleen was nowhere to be found. When we enquired the next morning, with another gentleman who I think was the chef, he said he had to ask Colleeen as it was not available for guests to use. If you have big luggages there are a lot of stairs you have to carry them through. Something to keep in mind. Shared bathroom and toilets were awkward. Breakfast was decent.

Staying at Rua Lodge made the perfect start to our weekend, we were extremely lucky to been given the Rua room aka honeymoon suite, absolutely delighted with the room and the size of bathroom was amazing. Rural views were so relaxing to look out at. Breakfast was a lovely experience and you felt part of the family setting. Our hosts Colleen and Clive and their family make you feel very welcome. We will definitely be back to book that room again.

This is a lovely large inn in a remote, exquisite property. The owners are delightful and the inn is decorated so beautifully. But be clear of the type of property it is—almost all the rooms share bathrooms. Our error in not catching that the room we booked was this type. There is a large kitchen that also is shared and while we were there most people were preparing their dinners. Spotlessly clean, good breakfast. Just awkward sharing bathrooms.

This is a great place to stay. The hosts were friendly, helpful and made all of their guests quite comfortable beyond what I would have hoped for! Coleen even helped plan my next spots as well as bailing me out w a conversion plug that I couldn’t find on a Saturday/Sunday arrival Their decor is beautifully coordinated and the surroundings are peaceful and with nice views. The breakfast they provided was home cooked for each and as extensive as I’ve ever experienced w teas, coffees, multiple cereals, fresh fruit eggs,local bacon and other extras that impressed! Wow

This place is wonderful! It is a beautiful building with scenic vistas from every angle. The rooms are well appointed and clean. Although it is a shared bathroom, the room is spacious with two showers and a bathtub. The best part is the hospitality of our hosts who made us feel truly welcome. Colleen and Clive were gracious and charming. Their son, Coles, made perfectly cooked pancakes and bacon for us, and there was cereal, bread, fruit, and yogurt in addition. They were all fun and hospitable. There are alcapas, sheep, and horses on the property. This is a wonderful place to stay- don't miss it!

DO NOT STAY HERE! Once upon a time I stayed in a hut in Africa on a straw mattress. Half the straw was missing. This was worse. Don't stay here unless you love to be disappointed. It's absolutely beautiful from the outside. So are display cakes... but it's just frosting.

It’s difficult to even give this place a 1. From the moment we opened the front door, we knew we’d made a terrible mistake. It was smelly, the rooms were tired and the hosts were very very strange. Despite booking a room with two beds, Colleen gave our room away and replaced it with a double bed. I was travelling with my mother who did not want to share a small cramped bed. Colleen suggested they put a futon on the floor in the cupboard for me to sleep on. She was not pleased when I requested a refund. I have yet to receive a refund. It’s been a week and I have phoned, text and emailed to no avail. Do not book here. You will be disappointed.

Rua Resort is such a gem! The hosts are very kind, friendly, and welcoming. They made our stay very comfortable. The house is beautiful and the views are stunning! We had a delicious home cooked breakfast, and great conversation and laughs with the hosts. We were so happy with our stay, and wished we could have stayed longer!

Amazing B&B. The setting is unequalled. An Italian Villa on a hill, surrounded by pastures and views. The family went out of their way for my vegetarian granddaughter and even offered to help us get to the FIFA World Cup game if needed. Would absolutely, definitely go back. A wonderful experience.
