They are all very helpful and informative and will take excellent care of you before and after whatever trip you decide to go on. "We booked room for 1 nights stay spent a few hour's at the pub, met Richard the landlord who made us very welcome plus a few regulars very relaxing first time out after 6weeks of radiotherapy it was a real tonic 😀 lovely room4 and bathroom spotless, sorry couldn't stay for Full English breakfast (thanks to Fred) we look forward to the next visit Linda&Bob 😀 😊 "

"My daughter/sil and grandson just stayed here and it was “ok” but one or 2 issues which could have been better. Friendly staff in the bar for check in but be aware “The Cottage” is not behind the bar premises where the rooms are but, behind the old police station in Halstead which is now converted into private homes. On approach to the cottage (which looks lovely and true to photos) we were warned by a female - I assume lives in the private properties, that the garden was “private property” and we were not allowed on it in quite an unfriendly manner! So not a great start to their 3 day stay. At first glance, the inside is lovely with modern furniture and quite spacious, Modern kitchen with an extra little toilet/washroom off the kitchen area which was very handy. Upstairs is the main bedroom with double bed/rail to hang your clothes up and a generous size set of drawers and 2 white fluffy towels on the bed. Really nice modern bathroom next to it with shower/modern loo & basin and heated wall mounted towel rail. And, finally a twin room with white metal framed beds with clean linen/towels. Both bedrooms have skylights for windows. Overall a lovely little place to stay for a few days BUT!!! There is No WiFi in the property (big problem for a 10 year old), lovely French doors in living room which are locked - you’re not allowed in the garden as it belongs to the private homes, so that was a shame (especially as my family had brought their well behaved dog with them). Lack of crockery/cutlery to use - lots of utensils but no can opener, only 1 mug and 3 mismatched glasses. And, finally, it rained quite heavily one day and the walls in the main bedroom got quite damp around the edges so I think a bit of maintenance is needed. A bonus is that you do get your own parking space out front 😊 I think it would benefit from having a fence of some kind to divide the cottage from the private homes and definitely install Wi-Fi but other than that it was a good stay."
