"I have stayed here several times over the past 50 years, and even used it for meals only a few times. It was a rare ryokan where you could enjoy seasonal wild vegetables, river fish, and mountain game, and I always looked forward to the delicious food. Recently, perhaps since it received a Michelin star, the dishes have become more elaborate, and I can't help but feel that the simplicity of the past has been lost. The service is very polite, and the atmosphere is quiet and unchanged from the past, making it very comfortable. The food is delicious, and every effort is made, but it's a shame that it has become just another high-end ryokan. It's a very good ryokan, and I'm sure those who don't know the old days will be fully satisfied, but for me, it feels a little sad."

"When we arrived at the hotel to check in, we were shocked to discover that the location had nothing to do with the first picture presented on Trip.com for this hotel. The misleading picture is a location over 1h drive away from the hotel! This is false advertising! The hotel itself is located in a ski station, which means the whole area was empty and dreadful in this early November. The dinner we paid for in advanced was absolutely pitiful, a disgrace for Japanese hospitality - even a poor student dormitory would produce a better meal! A burger patty, two small chicken wings, and a few other dishes were placed on our table for us to microwave ourselves. The (also charged) breakfast was only marginally better…"
