Aishi Machame

As the Pandemic made international travel difficult, my friends and I identified Tanzania as one of the few countries that we could all visit without having to quarantine. I found Altezza at the beginning of January and knew that we didn't have much time to plan our trip with our desired start date of February 6th. Altezza owns and operates Aishi Machame Hotel, which provided a lovely start to our Kili adventure. Altezza picked us up at Kilimanjaro International Airport and Joseph drove us to the Aishi Machame Hotel in a car with WIFI. He spoke perfect English and helped explain the region to us. Despite arriving around 8pm, Julia and Tony, greeted us at the Hotel, showed us to our room, helped us get dinner, and did a thorough equipment check with us. Tony's equipment recommendations were really helpful and ensured that we were setup for success on the mountain. The Aishi Machame Hotel is delightful and accents the Africa experience while offering great accommodations. My friends and I stayed in a three-person room and I was very impressed with the room, shower pressure, hot water, and linens. The restaurant features a three course menu with a couple of options for each course. The food was delicious! Finally, the grounds of the hotel are beautiful and we saw several monkeys, which was fun. Altezza climbs includes lodging, breakfast, and transportation back to the airport too!

Lodge was nice. It’s older but they are doing their very best to maintain. Gardens and trees were mature. Pretty! Monkeys were fun to watch as they played and clambered through the trees. Food was good but limited options. Breakfast that was included was really good! Staff were kind and helpful. Shop was small, some souvenirs. Rooms were clean, some tiny and some much bigger even though we paid same rate 2 different stays (before and after our Kili climb). It met our needs for sure of a quiet place to rest before and after our climb.

Exotic Ambiance & a great way to start your Kilimanjaro Climb. Exotic plants surround the hotel. One ne can watch the monkeys and birds while dining. The hotel is well located and geared for those starting the Kilimanjaro climb or safari. They offer an overnight laundry service.

We selected this property in conjunction with our Kilimanjaro trek with Altezza Travel. We were not disappointed. The hotel is like an oasis, hidden off the main road. It is completely secure. The rooms (although not air conditioned) are quite comfortable. Breakfast is included, and is quite good. Lunch and dinner are reasonably priced and tasty, and the small bar provides nice drinks at nicer prices! Very nice pool. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

The good: clean, spacious, friendly, comfortable, quiet. It serves decent food - usually buffet based and at a fixed 20USD per head per meal. It was ideal for a day prior to climbing Kilimanjaro and a welcome spot to return to after the hike! The staff are professional and engaging. The rooms are basic but nice enough (but don’t have aircon). The grounds are lovely and peaceful and a pleasant place to relax, read, swim etc. The bad: not much - slightly inconsistent - our first room had a fan (needed), our second room did not (we subsequently requested one). The infrastructure is not perfect - after our trek we were desperate for a shower - the hotel water system failed so I had to ‘wash’ in the swimming pool! Managed a warm shower the next morning.

I stayed at this hotel for a few days before and after my Kilimanjaro climb. It was part of the package in my booking with Altezza. This is a great place to relax and enjoy all the nature that surrounds it. I found it relaxing to watch the monkeys, feed the rabbits and bush babies, spot tortoises wandering around the grounds and see the ducks at the fish ponds. The service from the staff was friendly and very attentive. I found the rooms very clean and comfortable. The food was great and fairly priced. I tried the laundry service after my climb and it was quick and at a very good price compared to other hotels. I would have been happy staying here longer, but had other places to go and visit...
