The Cabins at Gulf State Park

The accommodations exceeded our expectations. Clean, spacious, affordable while still giving that nostalgic feeling we're in a park. The kids loved the Nature Center, trails, pier, RV campground pool and beach pavilion. We saw lots of wildlife, including sea turtles.

The cabin was very clean and updated. We had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Having access to the pier on the lake in "our backyard" was amazing for viewing the morning sunrise. We did not bring our own bikes, so it was very convenient to have access to bikes near our cabin. We had family staying in the cottages down the road, and it was easy to bike back and forth. It was so nice staying away from the beach road for peace and quiet, yet we were close enough to go to the beach each day and access the amenities from the Lodge.

We had a wonderful time at the Eagle cabins on Lake Shelby. The cabin was clean and well appointed with everything we needed. The cabin is beautiful and the scenery is fantastic. All of the employees we dealt with were super friendly and helpful. So much to see and do at Gulf State Park. We can’t wait to go back!

This place is fantastic. We had a family of 5 and were very comfortable in our cabin on the lake. Home was very comfortable. There were shared bikes to ride, which were great, the docks and beach are great! Hiking trails are short and minimal but fun too for a change. Bedding, and furniture were awesome. I would stay here over a VRBO anytime, and do plan to return. We ate at the Woodside restaurant one night and it was as good or better than several restaurants outside the park. The accommodations plus all the park has to offer is quite a deal. The beach was great, never had to worry about parking, heck we rode our bikes there as well. We also used the fishing pier which is included as well. Overall, I'm not sure how any other accommodation can compete with all they have to offer at the park. Its fantastic.

I cannot tell you how beautiful the cabins are! Firstly, check-in was really easy and informative. The lady checking us in (I’m so sorry I can’t remember your name), showed us key spots for alligators, gave us an itinery for the trip whilst we were there and was very helpful when I had a query later on via text. It was easy to find the cabin we were staying in with all the information provided, and it was just amazing. From the UK, we don’t have these sorts of apartments so it felt really different for us. Our cabin had a pier right outside it too (cabin 8) and was a three bed, with a double, bunk bed and a queen size bed. The place was spotless and stunning. Really lovely decorated, with some basics such as washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, toilet roll. The kitchen was a lovely space as was the lounge area. It had an outside both upstairs and downstairs, with a mosquito net around the upstairs part so we could sit out until later. From our porch, we watched otters in the mornings and lots of fish swimming from the pier. Our stay was so peaceful there - nothing disturbed us in the night times. In terms of what to do, we had an itinery given to us with shows about baby alligators, bats and turtles which you could go see. We didn’t get around to these but decided to go for a bike ride for half the day around the park. As we had kids, we did have to hire a bike with a buggy attachment for the kids from the Segway adventure place on the west side of the park - this was $45 for a bike and a two seater buggy attachment for the kids. This was for all day. We then used the free bike for my husband so it was a good deal overall. It was great riding around the park and exploring (and we got to see alligators too!) We then also used the park in the campground which you get free access to. Lovely little pool, very clean. It is busy but usually there is a space available. The splashpad is a cute addition too. The park is really easy to navigate and these accommodations are just stunning. We absolutely loved it and coming from UK prices, we thought these were very reasonable! This is absolutely one of the best places I have ever stayed! Everyone was so friendly and it was perfect! Can’t wait to come back!
