Sandals Dunns River All Inclusive Couples Only

We had the most amazing trip to this piece of paradise of a resort. Marvin McKnight the dive instructor made our whole trip by going above and beyond for us. He was able to carefully guide my wife into getting scuba certified and she loved it! She said she would never have done it with anyone else but he made her so comfortable and was so kind and caring. Also, the photographer Nisalah and fellow diver was really great too. He took the best photos and really went above and beyond every time we ran into him with tips on doing excursions, things to do in the resort and much more! Between those two our whole trip was made super top notch. Last but not least, Ray the entertainer was a rockstar. We missed live music one night and he said, “Are you okay? Do you feel alright? Because I can help I don’t want any guests feeling bad” which was funny because we didn’t care about missing the band, we were just so thrilled that he took the extra steps to accommodate and ask about our feelings. Something I’ve never experienced at a resort before. Ray, we believe in you and your dreams to become a famous singer one day!! Thank you for taking the time to talk with us and make sure we were happy!!

The Staff here were some of the friendliest of any Sandals we have been to. Butler's Reynaldo and RogerNiel were excellent. Also, a shout-out to the Staff member who cleaned our room every day. I wish I could remember her name. Rondoval #6 February 5th- the 15th. She was so kind! Our turn down service attendant was fabulous as well. Water sports was good, but it was yellow or red flag all week. Water workouts at 10:30 were good, instructor (chad?) was fun. Beautiful property. Food was ok. Hanami was our favorite. Isola Pizza very greasy. Blum Coffee was great and the servers worked hard to get everyone taken care of. Saltaire was great and we ate our breakfast and lunch frequently there. We did not care for Edessa for Breakfast or dinner. We felt they struggled with not having enough servers. Super bowl and Valentines parties were very organized and impressive. We had 2 great massages at the spa. We did one excursion and that was very well organized. We would definitely recommend this Sandals!

The food and the service were a 3 out of 5 at best. The resort itself is beautiful, and the staff were friendly. Dining at the restaurants, took an unreasonable amount of time. It was like they were dragging it out on purpose. It took us one hour to get a pizza at the beachside Grill one day. It was not overly crowded either. You never knew what you were gonna get when you ordered a drink. Something as simple as a margarita was perfect when made by one bartender and then something completely different and not even drinkable the next time. If you wanted a chair anywhere near the pool, you had to get up by 4:30 AM if you wanted a chance. There were so many people with Butler Service, and they reserved most of them. There was not a lot of choices as far as food. And we are not super picky People by any means, but it was really just OK. The gym and coffee place were nice. Water sport guys were great.

The facilities are very nice. The food was good and the drinks were premium. However, if you don’t get up at 6 AM and put a towel on your chair, you will not get one. You’ll end up baking in the sun on the beach. Also, out of the seven days we were there, we only had housekeeping four days. This is unacceptable considering we complained to the front desk after the first missed housekeeping. It almost ruined our vacation. We will never return to this resort nor will we recommend it.

We were so excited to visit Sandals Dunn River in Jamaica. We were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary and I read so many reviews, watched videos and felt confident I picked the right place. Upon our arrival, we waited in the Sandals lounge which did not seem like the videos I watched or the information I read. Only peanuts and small chips for snacks, red strip beer and soda. However, this was not a big deal just excited to get to the resort. The drive there was not too bad but we were placed on an older "bus" small van not the Sandals buses that are in the commercials. Once we arrived my first impression of the resort was that it was absolutely beautiful. We checked in at Club Sandals due to our room type and were informed we were being upgraded for our anniversary, we were excited about that and I thought wow this is off to great start. However, the room we were upgraded too was a Tranquil Skypool room that is usually has a butler. With our room upgrade, it was a beautiful room but we did not have a butler and honestly that was okay with us, we did not need or really want one but I do think it did cause come confusion. Online with our original room type it says Sandals Club staff with be in contact daily, which never happened. It also states or drinks and refrigerator will be stocked daily, this also did not happen. So I called down to Club Sandals and asked to have our refrigerator restocked and instantly received an attitude and was asked did I turn on my service light, I said not because one I did not know we had a service light and we were never informed we needed to do that. A staff member did come up later to bring a bottle of champagne and stated he did not think we needed anything but we were out of a lot of things. I had to constantly ask where to go, no information on where to go for our candlelight dinner, where to meet for our excursion to the falls and even when we had to be downstairs to leave for the airport. Communication was awful. Throughout our stay, I will say I was definitely disappointed. We encountered many rude staff members, the swim up bar and the bar by the beach were the absolute worse and made it so uncomfortable we did not even want to order drinks from there. You would stand to ask for a drink and they would either continue to talk to other staff or would help others that had been sitting there most of the day and when you did order a drink a lot times they were out of an ingredient. There was no interaction, honestly seemed like they did not want to be there and did not want to interact with guests. There was a girl at the beach bar, I do not know her name but she had a birth mark on her face she was incredibly rude to my husband when he tried to joke around with her. We had a few windy days so doing anything on the water was a little hard. One of the best sandals I’ve been to. The general manager told a great story about the property at the members dinner. Great restaurants, pools and beach area even had motorized sports to water ski. French and Italian were our favorite. Shout out to King and Salvatore as the restaurant managers amazing work. Two Jada’s one from the bar and her singing voice and also Jada from the front desk. Of course have to mention my buddy Andrea in charge of security who joined our table at the members dinner and kept the conversation going with other couples. We stayed Saturday to Saturday just wish we had the chance to book our next trip but it went by so quick and looking forward to coming back. We flew into Ian Fleming only a 30 min bus ride compared to an hour and half from Montego Bay.
