Coot Club

A stay at the Coot Club is a lifetime experience. The format of a series of lodges set along the shores of a lagoon with a central dining and activities area named the Clubhouse works brilliantly. There are a great number of sporting activities on the lagoon including sailing & waterskiing. All meals are of a high quality and are served under the age old milkwood trees. Each lodge has its own cooking facilities if you prefer a more peaceful time. The management are always available to organise trips and activities. A stay here is a very special experience not to be missed.

Het was een geweldige ervaring. We werden heel leuk ontvangen door de gastvrouw en gastheer. Het personeel was erg aardig. Met name de sundowner op de pier was een onvergetelijk moment. Het eten was heel erg lekker. Boothuis had prachtig uitzicht. In de ochtend zelfs flamingo's gezien! Heel veel leuke activiteiten te doen. Echt een aanrader.

What a wonderful hidden treasure Coot Club is! The location is stunning as was our accommodation in Boat House 1, as well as the lovely main house with the bar and dining room and the outdoor dining area under the trees. All really beautiful. Ella Anne her husband were very welcoming and friendly and provided us with an accommodation upgrade which was most thoughtful and much appreciated. The staff were all very friendly, attentive and efficient - delightful. There were kayaks and paddle boards available during the day and a host of organised activities for children and, although we were there as just a couple, it was clear that the children there were having a wonderful time! The adult only pool provided a very pleasant tranquil area where we were able to relax and enjoy the amazing surroundings while sipping something delicious in peace. Definitely a hidden gem!

Coot Club is amazing! From the moment we arrived to the moment we left it was just wonderful! The location is stunning! The staff are just wonderful! They helped us book activities before we arrived and helped with everything during our stay. The service was so personalised, asking our 2 year old if he wanted to play with this / that. It was just wonderful, 2 months on and he still asks if he can go to the beach with Becky (guide) again! We are altready talking about when we can visit SA again to come back here. The food is also superb! You do not need a 4x4 to drive the road in, we had a 'normal' car and its absolute fine My only regret is that we didn't have longer here!

Superb staff, fantastic food and a dream for children. Great biking, kayaking and hiking in a nature reserve on the edge of the ocean. Heaven for families!! We were there for 4 nights and could have stayed for a week more had we known in advance how well this lodge tailors for the needs of sporty families that want to get away from busy ordinary life! Simply outstanding

We travelled to South Africa for a two week family holiday and stayed at lots of different places and ended our trip here. It is a beautiful, remote and wild location. Here is a list of good points and some items to consider when booking your holiday. Pros Good sized accommodation we stayed in a two bed cottage Kitchens well equipped Comfortable beds and sheets Great playroom for kids Netflix for kids which helped on the rainy days Great breakfast selection Welcoming staff Lots of kayaks They have a generator which kicks in very quickly when the normal electrical black outs occur Good wifi Great food in the evening and good selections for young kids Points to Consider Road to the hotel is unpaved and a difficult drive. You will be fine with a 4x4 but with a normal car it is very difficult. Rural location. So in the evenings it is difficult to navigate the potholes on the road into nearest town - so dinner at the hotel or in your cottage is a good idea and a bit limiting Cottages are generously sized however the bathroom in ours needed some TLC as they are dated (new boathouses are available) Towels in the cottages are not great and face flannels are not replaced daily Checkout is early at 10.30 am and no shower facility at venue which you could use of your flight is later Limited wine selection if you are buying by the glass In general a nice place and lots to do when the sun shines however felt that the cottage we were staying in was over priced in comparison to more modern and luxurious accommodation available in South Africa.
