We absolutely loved our stay at Hotel Moulin d’Aure - we never return to the same place twice but we were already planning another stay for next year before we’d even left. It’s an absolutely gorgeous venue - the older french style you’re looking for but with modern amenities like air con, electric car charging, wifi extenders all round the grounds, etc. We stayed in Chambre 7 with the balcony - the bed was enormous you could fit 3 pillows side by side, and the black out shutters were fab, the room could be pitch black even in day time, and they kept the room cool even in 34° heat. The landscape is just lovely you can tell they spend so much time & attention on the gardening and looking after the grounds. Huge trees everywhere, flowers in bloom all over, vines overhanging, everywhere so picturesque. The restaurant by the pool is just beautiful. The staff (in hotel & restaurant) all so lovely - helped us with our (limited) French, and took the time to let me have a go practicing asking for things in French too. Even more lovely - before our stay I’d emailed asking if they had the time for a couple sentences to recommend a food market in the area and a taxi firm (as was only there for a few days) and to my surprise they came back the next day with a huge detailed email explaining what market was on each day in each town and the style of each, with a detailed PDF attached of each market, opening times, locations, which day - etc etc, and recommendations for local taxi firms. Honestly can’t fault this place the 3*s completely baffles me. Just a note it’s definitely best to hire a car - we didn’t when we arrived, but decided to on day 2 and picked one up the same day was very easy - the taxis & drivers are good, but it’s expensive, and you do need to drive to get to any places nearby you couldn’t walk anywhere especially when it’s hot - we ended up hiring for €100 for 2 days and found it very very easy. Thank you again all and hopefully see you next year!
