Inn on the Lake

Great location, lovely walk around the lake and nearby woodlands. Staff are friendly and service is good. Rooms are outdated and could do with a lot of modernisation, unfortunately, is not even on par with some travelodges. Walls are hollow so can hear noise and voices from neighbouring rooms. Rooms are not sparkling clean, you will get what is expected of a 3 star hotel. Breakfast is just ok. Overall, if you’re looking for a stopover for the night and want to wake up to beautiful views then definitely book a room with a view and not the standard room which may end up overlooking the A2. We did however, book a lakeside room that was allocated on the second floor and the view was very nice indeed.

Good hotel for the piece. Could be cleaner and service from staff could be better. Cannot complain for the price though. Also had a nice lakeside view. Would stay again :)

We are staying here this weekend for our anniversary. Have a king size Lakeview room which although is a little dated is clean and very big. The food so far whether it be breakfast or dinner has been fine so far and all staff have been helpful. A pleasant surprise from all the negative reviews.

Where do I start? Probably decorated last in the 1970s, corridor carpets threadbaer in places and look filthy. Bar closes at 9.30!!! This is supposed to be a hotel! No pizza available on Monday but when we did have one on Wednesday it was good. The rest of the food was decidely average and the 2 blondes ladies working the bar and waitressing need to cherr up a LOT. The breakfast was so poor that we only went onece. The coffee was at one end of a room and the cereals etc at the other, so if one went to get a coffee to take to ones table there were no cups as they were on the table. Had to walk back to the table to retieve a cup - so much easier if the wiater had served it at the table. The plates for the toast were much smaller than one slice of toast so buttering it became a challenge, expecially if one had two pieces.Vegan offerings were small and poor quality. Carpet in the bedroom was rucked up in places and well worn. Reading light above the bed was almost falling off and as for the TV one needed binoculars to watch it as it was smaller than a small T towel. Dogs everywhere...including one who deposited his pooh outside our bedroom door!! All in all poor and we will not be returning.

Young but friendly and helpful staff, the food is traditional pub food and very nice for what it is. The beer was spot on and I’d know having spent 30yrs in the trade. Our room was spacious on the second floor overlooking the lake. It is dated but clean and bright with everything you need in your room. For breakfast you get what is listed on the menu. I enjoyed my breakfast, it was perfectly cooked and delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and when we are back in the area will likely stay here again.

I fail to see why this hotel has the negative reviews that have been posted. I am currently staying here and it is lovely. The staff are friendly and really do try their best to ensure you have the best experience. We had dinner here last night and all was good. I would say good standard pub food which is more than adequate for us. The decor is a little dated. However, the rooms are really spacious and spotlessly clean. The bed was ultra comfortable and I had a wonderful night's sleep. Breakfast order was taken in good time despite it being fully booked. Food arrived hot and was very tasty. I'm truly baffled at all the negativity.
