Staybridge Suites Grand Rapids - Airport

Might be the single worst hotel stay in my entire life. Outside looks nice as you pull up but it stops there. Untrained staff who are are overworked (told to me by them) and a hotel that needs major updating. Stained carpet, smoke smell in the hallways, trash littered by rooms. Many people living there and the staff said that "it's the locals living here who are the problems". Many intoxicated people in hallways and outside making comments to women in our party. In the room its very outdated (except he beds - those were really comfortable). I never would walk on the carpet with barefoot it was so dirty. The amount of hair on the toilet was disgusting and there was a used towel in the room. Went to the pool and got to witness a couple vomiting on the other side of the fence who were intoxicated. Called the manager the next day and took 2 days of calls to get him to respond. The front desk told me they were calling him when he was not working to have him call due to the severity. He didn't seem to care or want to be bothered by anything. I can see why the hotel is like it is as he had no leadership skills nor interest in the wellbeing of his guests or his hotel. I would HIGHLY recommend going to another hotel when in the area until this place gets cleaned up.

Twelve years ago we had a great extended stay here when we moved to Grand Rapids so we thought we would stay again as we visited for our son's wedding. Those 12 years have been very unkind to the Staybridge. Room size was great, bedroom size great, everything we needed in the kitchen, working A/C unit although it's location in the bedroom was very loud when it came on in the night. The furniture is very outdated as is the room decor, but not unpleasant. Nice Dove products in shower and for handwashing at the sink. Those were the positives. The negatives, unfortunately, are what make my review a 2, and I would not recommend the Staybridge on 29th to anyone. Kitchen: the ceiling had about a 2 foot square patch of black mold, a health hazard to anyone let alone a person with asthma. We did not run the dishwasher when we left because the rubber seal was hanging off. I pushed it back into place but was hesitant about running water in case it leaked. The fridge looked like someone had hit it numerous times, it had a lot of dings in the door. The outside of the fridge was very smeared but inside was clean. Bathroom: the door neither closed nor stayed open. At a guess I would say it was a new door because it looked as though someone had tried to chip pieces off it to make it fit - which it didn't. There is no extractor fan in the bathroom, making a shower a very steamy event. The metal container holding the Dove soap on the wall in the sink area of the bathroom fell off the wall every time you tried to pump the soap dispenser. There was no smoke detector in the room, I spoke to the weekend reception lady through a translation app on her phone (very clever use of technology by the way), to be told the handyperson would not be at work until Monday. I had to go to reception to remind them on Tuesday as it had not been rectified. Breakfast: I only ate breakfast once in a 10 night stay. Great selection of what actually looked like taco toppings, but the only choice for eggs was an egg with "cheese" omlette, it was velveeta, there was real cheese in the toppings, why serve a cheese substitute in the omlette which to me was inedible! Those are the negatives. I met quite few staff members, all but one (young man on reception during last few days) were very pleasant. I was rather worried by the sign posted on the laundry room door stating "unsafe structure", could management please explain why that room is still available for use?

I checked in on Aug 8, 2024 I did not get any cleaning yet, Today is Aug 12,2024 I have been asking for cleaning daily and getting a promise that my suite will be cleaned but at the end of the day it has not yet been cleaned until today. Mr.Logan who was on the front desk tonight promised that it would be cleaned tomorrow but Yet I need to wait and see, as both front desk staff this morning and yesterday night and the night before that all promised that it would be cleaned the next day but nothing happened. The policy of cleaning is suppose to be a light daily cleaning Monday to Friday , and for stays of more than 7 nights a full cleaning service once a week, my stay is for 15 nights.

Not my style 1970's furniture, dirty floors, no bathroom ventilation fan, i could continue with my view of this dumpy hotel. To make matters worse the .room smelled of a 2nd hand furniture store rummage sale Oder smell. After 24 hours i checked out for airport the free shuttle was good. After my return home to Atlanta i l washed all of my clothing to mitigate this smell. .Stay at your own risk as for myself i would not lay my head at a Staybridge Suite for free. i digress

Avoid this hotel! My wife and I stayed there for two nights back in April. (We normally stay at the Holiday Inn Express but figured we'd try Staybridge.) When we arrived the customer in line ahead of us turned around and whispered to us that the staff member checking her in was incredibly slow and it was taking forever. So we waited and then we experienced it ourselves. He must've been new on the job and so we were very patient and polite because we were not in a rush. He informed me that they didn't have the type of room we had reserved so I would be getting an upgrade. OK fine I said and we went off to our room. Then a couple of days later the charge on credit card shows up and it's way higher than what we reserved it for. I called IHG customer service and they told me they would "open a case." I called them back to see what was happening and they said that the Staybridge manager said the charge was for the upgrade we requested!! We've since gotten a partial refund. Four months later and three or four long calls with IHG customer service and I'm still working on getting the full refund. I'm not hopeful. So bottom line: This place cannot be trusted. Beware!

The desk staff is rude and uncooperative. The hotel is shabby and not shabby chic. The carpets are dirty abs grimy. The staff is unwelcoming and argumentative, with warning signs posted all over lobby. The hotel rooms are noisy and are old and worn out. We asked for a different room and hotel manager refused stating no rooms were available but checking with IHG had availability…. Staff lied. Hotel double charged us too, refused to refund the error.

Stayed just one night before flying out of nearby airport. King deluxe room very nice. Very clean. Hallways needed vacuuming and paint could stand touch up. The breakfast was VERY nice….waffles, oatmeal, fresh fruit, eggs, etc. I LOVE that they have pop available for breakfast as I’m not a coffee drinker. Catarina (the breakfast attendant) is a doll. Very pleasant and helpful. One small suggestion, get bigger TVs!

We stayed here while we were in town attending a music festival. Room, hotel, breakfast, everything was great. I had never stayed at a Staybridge until this trip. I'll definitely be back. Everything was clean, polite staff. I would definitely stay there again.
